Given your description of this beer, that sounds like the perfect name for it.

It is the little bro of Heist's Navigating Seas which weighs in at 9.0 and based on the number of Untappd reviews it appears very little is brewed (only 1 BA review). Based on some rare descriptions in Untappd, it sounds like a very flavorful brew.
    Cheers!

Edmund's Oast - Leather Jacket American Porter

Solid American Porter; Roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, and a light hop bitterness. Slightly dry finish. I have been really impressed by most of the offerings by Edmund's Oast, and this one is no exception.

Peggy Stewart Porter from 13 Stripes in the greater Greenville, SC area.
This is roastier than normal which i dig and brings some chocolate malt as well. A bit thin but overall, a decent beer.

My brother bought one of these for me to try over Christmas- it’s a solid beer! I agree, they put out consistently good beers.

I don’t normally like coffee beers, but this one blends it all together into a nice balance.

I had this at the brewery a couple weeks ago, one of the best Porters I’ve had in a long time. Needless to say, I was happy they had cans to go in their beer cooler. I was traveling when I took this pic, my apologies for the plastic hotel cup, lol.

    A Robust Porter, 6.7 % ABV.
I rated it a 4.25, it was very tasty!

Getting down towards the end of the Black Butte Porter sixer. With this and the other 4 cans i am getting a subtle smoky malt whereas 20+ years ago i recall this being a chocolate malt forward brew on tap. Anyone have thoughts on BB Porter?
    Cheers!

Still one of the best, even with a little age on it (3 weeks before the BB date).

I am of the opinion that Porters really hold up very well with age if they are stored properly (e.g., not exposed to high(er) temperatures).

I have a homebrewed batch of Robust Porter in my cellar that I bottled last fall and it is drinking 'better' today than when it was fresh.

    Cheers!

I agree. This one was a gift so I'm not sure of the storage before it hit my fridge a couple months ago.

    Cross post from NBW:
    Hey NBW Warriors,
I am getting into another Zebulon Artisan Ales historical brews. This one is an East India Porter (Circa 1840) made with pale, brown and black malts. Aged in oak barrels with Brett for a year. Hopped with East Kent Goldings, IBU is calculated to be 140. Far more porter was sent to India than Pale Ale. In speaking with the brewer Mike Karnowski, he baked his own brown malts as he is unable to obtain them commercially.

    Onto the review:

    4.19/5 rDev +12.9%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4.25

Picked up a 2024 500 ml bottle from the Zebulon taproom 2-8-25 for $12. Consumed for review 8-9-25. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer started a slow lava flow of foam upon bottle opening. Slow pour produced ginormous head very similar to the Belgian Pale Ales and Tripels.

Nose is an interesting mix of roasted brown and black malts and a kiss of Brett.

Taste is a heavily roasted malt base that i am getting notes of chocolate. Brett impartation is very subtle and barely perceptible. Finish is heavily hopped and with the general heavy roast leaves a very abrasive finish; 9/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is foamy as the Brett is still very active.

Overall, a very interesting historical beer to try. I dig heavy roasted stouts, so this is right up my alley! Nicely done by Brewer Mike Karnowski!

Porter doubleheader today, decided to hit the "cellar" side door of my beer fridge to check out Deschutes Black Butte Porter XXXV anniversary. Dangerously drinkable, and despite the cherry and vanilla adjuncts, the roasted malts and hops win the day.
    Cheers!

I assume this qualifies: Black Butte Non-Alcoholic. Aromas and flavors of dark roasted malt, a little char, medium-light in body, and a dry finish with a bit of bitterness on the palate. It's a little lighter in body than I'd prefer, but it's an outstanding beer nevertheless. Cheers!
