Porter vs Stout

    I don't know what the exact difference is, but Porter's usually have more of a nutty flavor to me and they seem to be a tad bit lighter in body than a stout.

    The bottle conditioned Guinness was a different beast entirely , in fact when the modern form was introduced in 1993 the BBC food programme tasters said it isn't good enough to carry the Guinness name.I shall never forgive Guinness for inventing the abomination and crime against humanity called nitro.

    While my respect for the skills of brewers is great I don't take much notice of their understanding of beer styles.A major IPA brewer stating that IPA was brewed stronger and sent to the troops in India,and Guinness telling people that Arthur Guinness invented Irish Stout by adding roasted barley. (Guinness was an ale brewer and never brewed stout, he employed a London family to do that for him. And nobody used roast grains at the time anyway , stout came from brown malt)

    The real question is, what the hell is the difference between a 10% "strong/imperial porter" and a 10% "imperial stout".
