Runs from today through the 18th. http://pdxbeerweek.com/events-calendar/ From what I can tell, this is nowhere close to an exhaustive list of events, but it'll give you some idea of what there is around town. For example... the event list references the Culmination tap take over at Lardo West tonight, but for some reason contains no information about what appears to be a spectacular FW tap takeover at Beer Belly (right next door).
Agreed. I even thought twice about bothering to post the website. 5 or 6 years ago, it seemed like "beer weeks" were all the rage. Every large (and even not so large) city seemed to have one (or wanted to have one). When I lived in Baltimore, Philly beer week was a huge event, and was something I marked off on my calendar every year. I would try to hit at least 5 or 6 events each year... and I still remember trying my first Hill Farmstead, Half Acre, and Funky Buddha beer during Philly beer week. This year, the Philly beer week thread is barely two pages long, and the comment/observation you made is one that permeates that thread as well. Beer week events don't look all that different from what you can find in the area on any given weekend. Pretty much just like here. There are some pretty interesting and fun looking tap takeovers on the event calendar, and the gin and gin event over at Loyal Legion looked pretty interesting to me (even though I abhor gin). The beer pairing dinner at HOTD tonight looks pretty fun, and if my wife liked beer, I probably would have gone to it. But yeah... it really isn't all that much different from any other week here in Portland.
I went. It wasn't very interesting (and I love gin). They had 3 gin barrel aged beers on tap, and you could opt to have it paired with a shot of the gin that the beer was aged in. They also had on-premise bottles of The Florist available for $25, which isn't a bad deal. It wasn't a bad experience, but I was really hoping for more options.
The only thing I'm going to this year is SNACKDOWN! The wife and I went last year and had a blast. I'd like to go to the New Brewery event at Bailey's, but since it's on a Monday I just can't make it...
