    Hey:
There's a thread in the main Beer Talk forum that questions a general dislike for fruit beers, so I guess I'll talk POSITIVELY about that loosely-defined style. Last week I was honored to attend a tasting of a few of the beers to be featured at Portland Fruit Beer Fest this weekend (June 8 & 9) in Portland... and so I'll give a little preview (from notes, so excuse a glitch or two in name-gathering  )...
    • Burnside Brewing (Ivill Krushu) - brewed with golden figs and dates and aged 2 months in Bull Run rum barrels
    • Hopworks (a colab with Automatic Brewing in San Diego) (Passionfruit IPA...er, "Cascadian White Ale"???) - Citra, Nelson, Galaxy & Meridian hops plus passion fruit, pineapple & mango purees. Delicious!
    • Alameda (Alamosa) Bohemian pilsner with orange juice
    • Upright (???) - a blend of Pure Wit + Six + Bushwhacker cider + currant puree + grapefruit + blood orange + seville orange. And barrel-aged. Wow, just wow...
    • Lompoc (Cherry Wheat - Barrel Aged) - 2 years old, 200 lbs of local sour cherries in a port barrel
    • Widmer Brothers (???) - based on Marionberry Hibiscus Gose from a couple years ago.... now a Berlinerweiss with pomegranate(!). If it's hot on Saturday, I'd drink this all afternoon.
    • The Commons (Biere Royale) - influenced by a French cocktail. Almost no hops, yogurt-based(!) loaded with currant syrup/puree.
    • 2 Towns Cidery (Rhubarbarian) - yeah, it's cider not beer but -wow- was this good. 2.5 TONS of rhubarb + apple cider (Braeburn and Rome Beauty). Perfectly tart and refreshing. Maybe my favorite of all I tried.
I'll be there Saturday, but can't make it Sunday... hope to see some of y'all there!

I will be there on Saturday, in my rare capacity as designated driver. Wifey gets to be the drinker for the day, as she is more of a fan of fruit beers than I am. Sounds like they have some interesting beers to sample.

Will be there with my cousin bright and early when they let in the VIP ticket holders. Had a blast last year, and the weather looks to be good, so should be fun again. Definitely trying the commons beer, block 15 psidium, and the upright/Bushwacker collab. Plus, can't wait to see what's pouring at the special taps while I'm there. Hoping for at least one of the Crooked Stave beers!!

    Excited about the Upright beers.

I hope that they determined the cost of kegs in advance this year. The doubling up of ticket pricing on Sunday vs. Saturday was a sore spot for me in the past. Is Ezra running it again?

Any reports on the opening "rare" beers? I would really like to be there while WWBV is on.

    Highlights for me were:

Crooked Stave - Wild Wild Brett Violet
    Deschutes - Current Event
    Laurelwood - Fruition Wheat
    10 Barrel - Cucumber Crush
NB - Nectarine/Cherry Love on Firkin
    Upright - BA Citrus Wit
Upright Collab (Un-barreled version last Halloween was better)
