    Hi Everyone -

I'm going to be in the Portland/Kennebunkport area in a little over a week. I'm looking for recommendations on good spots to watch football and enjoy great beer. It could be a brewery, restaurant, bar, etc. I don't really care about the format just want to be able to watch the Broncos and drink some delicious Maine Beer.

On another note - favorite bottle shops in the area would be of great interest to me, as well.

    Cheers!
    Stephen

Tully’s bottle shop in Wells is worth checking out
Never watched a game but Mikes clam shack in Wells has a good number of TVs worth a call

King's Head in Portland might do the trick

Great. So they show NFL games on sundays?

This, to me, is an assumption, but I wouldn't see why not. Last time I was there was a couple years back, but had World Cup games on big ass TV's. Wouldn't be shocked if they did the same for NFL. Food is good too (or was. I know how these things can change).

don’t love the quality/price at KH. But it’s probably fine for some beers n ball.

May be worth checking out Great Lost Bear.

Great Lost Bear may have a *few* TVs, but they seem to be scattered on the edge of the seating and not necessarily at the bar area. But my recollection may be off. I checked for my local area in RI which may or may not be the same as Maine, and it shows only CBS and not Fox showing a 4pm game with this being Packers-Steelers. So there is the distinct possibility you need a bar with NFL Sunday ticket to watch the Broncos and this could limit the options.

Edit: I have never personally been here, but a quick Google results in Fore Play Sports Bar (Fore Street in the Old Port) being popular for sports viewing. Their facebook says they have every NFL game shown at their bar on over 40 TVs, and the last 5 Untappd check-ins are Tubular IPA from Orono, Stowaway IPA by Baxter, Lunch by MBC, Portland Pale Ale by Lone Pine, and Allagash White. So they appear to have a few craft options at least...

Worth mentioning that there is good beer on tap literally everywhere in Portland: dives, sports bars, beer bars. Everywhere.

This is surprising, I don’t think I’ve heard many people not like KH. I find it to be one of the consistently best tap lists in Portland, and the food is great.

This is a good point. I’m honestly not sure where in town would have enough games on TV that you could find the Jets/Broncos game, which will be about the tenth most popular game on Sunday. But if I were OP I’d call around and find the game, and worry less about the beer. Beer will be solid everywhere.

    So
I’m on a guys trip in Kennebunkport right now. Well technically right now I’m drinking at Bissell in Portland but we’re staying in Kennebunkport. The best place to watch football is at Alissons’s. Tons of TVs and great food and craft beer on tap. Right now they have Maine Dinner among many other great options. Also a more dive bar Pilot House down the street does not have great beer but also a place to watch football.

Thank you all so much for the feedback! I will actually be there next Sunday for the Ravens game.

Heads up that none of the bars in Kennebunkport had the Sunday ticket this year so the only game playing was the Patriots game.

Good to know. I was hoping I could count on Alissons but probably not.

Yeah it was disappointing. Every other year they’ve had several games going.

Going to be visiting Portland next week, but I had a few questions about the area, so hoping to get some feedback.
    1. Will I need reservations at any of the breweries because of pandemic restrictions?
      • Along those same lines, are there any major changes to be aware of?
    2. Are masks currently required for the vaccinated there? Does anyone ask for proof of vaccination?
    3. Recommendations on favorite hikes or other outdoor activities? My wife and I plan on doing as much as we can outdoors.
    4. Recommendations on foliage viewing or areas?
    5. Any can't miss events or other activities that we should be taking note of?
    6. Best place for fresh lagers?

As I posted above, I was just up in the area. No masks required nor were any places asking for vaccination proof. I only hit up Bissell in Portland but it was fine, no reservations needed and plenty of space to hang out indoors or outside. I could probably send some more hiking and other information later today.
