Is Substance perpetually on tap at the brewery? In other words, if I don't care enough to wait in line, can I swing by later in the afternoon to try it on draft?

It's been on tap ever time I've been there, not to mention it's easy to find on tap in bars in the area.

I have to piggyback on this thread. I have Bier Cellar, WF, Craft Beer Cellar in my Portland Bottle Shop list. I like just watching through those bottles so are there any more suggestion for craft beer bottle shop? Thanks.

Again, I find RSVP (right down the street from Bier Cellar) to be a great place with a huge selection.

I'm worrying it's little bit too far from the down town. I should find something else to see around RSVP, thanks!

Well, if you are planning on hitting Allagash or Foundation, RSVP is on your way.

Great Lost Bear is near RSVP, too. Lots of local beers on tap.

Is Epiphany usually on tap at Foundation?

The new bar at Whole Foods has one of the best tap lists in Portland. Pretty much all local stuff. Was not expecting that.

Wow! News to me, wish I knew that Whole Foods had a bar this past Saturday. I got a pour at Bissell along with picking up cans on my way Downeast, but that WF is also convenient to the highway so that is a good option if I'm limited on time. (When I do have a few hours my spot to chill out for awhile is Novare Res).

I was thinking the same thing. I have been a few times and have never had an issue with a line, but nothing with that NE hop profile that the OP was talking about.

Can anyone help me with good restaurants near DT Portland with a decent tap list? Thanks!

Duckfat is my favorite. Food is great and they almost always have Bissell Bothers on.

For low key dining I like Thirsty Pig, great tap list and the house made sausages are tremendous.

I'd hit up RSVP before hitting up Bier Cellar - much better selection, much better prices, and I've had "attitude" at Bier Cellar. RSVP isn't too far out of town, and right on the way to Allagash. Not to mention limited parking and the awkward location of Bier Cellar. One thing I do like about Bier Cellar is their email distribution - this is well done and appraises you of what to expect - I suspect I'm not the only person to read their email and then save a few bucks by buying up the road at RSVP.

Sorry if you felt you have gotten attitude at our store. We certainly try our hardest to be friendly with everyone, but we are human, and we do have some bad days I guess.

Glad you like our email list, happy to be a source of information about what is available in our market.

    Cheers.

Fair enough and agree, may just have been a bad day like we all have. I will also add that the staff at Bier Cellar is more knowledgeable and available than the staff at RSVP.

Some helpful advice in here. Going to Maine in July and will stay in the Bar Harbor area. Already planning on visiting Atlantic/Bar Harbor brewery but thought I'll ask if there are any other that anybody can recommend. Driving from Boston so might stop in Portland on the way there or back.

I always like to stop at Oxbow in Newcastle and Marshall Wharf/Three Tides in Belfast if I'm heading up that way. A stop in the Portland area is also highly recommended!

If no one here can answer, you can always call the brewery and ask. They are very responsive.
