Heading up next Saturday for a whole day in Portland, ME, other than Bissell Bros, what else should we hit? Looking for both good food & obviously great beer. Staying at Residence Inn downtown Sat. night and headed to Sunday River to ski on Sunday.

Allagash is about twenty minutes from Bissell but you can hit a lot of really good breweries within a couple hundred feet of each other. Battery Steele, Austin Street, Definitive, Foundation, and Casco (don't know anything about these Guys). Last time we were there, there was a Thai food truck that was pretty outstanding.

One update to the thread above. The new Austin Street brewery, which is a lot larger than their initial location, is next door to Rising Tide on Fox Street.

    Novare Res is a must.

    For food/beer I like:
    Little Tap House
    Kings Head
    Nosh
    Duck Fat

    Breweries I don’t skip:
    Oxbow
    Goodfire

Other fun spots: (breweries and bars/etc)
    Thirsty Pig
    Mast Landing
    Great Lost Bear
    Bird Dog Roadhouse
    Bier Cellar

Tons of other trendy, good restaurants with good beer you will see on the other Portland threads.

And tons of other popular breweries with great tap rooms. Too much to do in Portland with only a couple days!

    Have fun!

Also FYI something I just learned, Highroller Lobster offers brunch on Sundays starting at 9am in addition to their regular menu. My wife dislikes seafood so she found some breakfast type bites to enjoy.

If jhavs knows two things, it is where to go in Portland and how to lose at fantasy football...not Portland but the new tap room at Maine Beer Company is 20 minutes away and opens at 11am, worth a visit in my opinion. Easy ride to get back to industrial park and then to Bissell and on to downtown (or whatever order you like).

Thanks for all the input, had a great trip, ended up on 'Death Row' - started at Allagash and hit the 4 adjacents...then to Bissell and Bunker..then in town to Shipyard, Oxbow, Oyster's Raw Bar, Goodfire, Arcadia and ended up at Sebago. I think we hit Lone Pine at some point, but my memory is somewhat fuzzy...
