Portland - Too Many Breweries

    Gotcha. Well then that's really an apples to oranges comparison. And I'm not nearly well versed enough in NY city restaurants (I kind of doubt anyone truly is due to its size) or food in general to compare the two places either.

    Yes. And this is why I hesitate to say Portland is the best beer city in New England.

    It's great, I LOVE IT up there, but remove the IPAs and there's a lot less awesome there than people assume.

    I really dig New England IPAs, so it's cool with me, but I adore German styles, Czech styles, English cask...etc.

    And sure, you have your Oxbow's and Allagash's, but they're more the exception rather the rule. You can also find a variety of styles on tap in town too.
