Thanks for the suggestions! How's the food at either of these places? We'll be doing lots of beer-centric things all weekend (Allagash, Novare Res, Bissell...etc.) so I think food is the bigger concern. If the food is good, I'll definitely look into switching the venue.

Lion's Pride (now called "Ebenezer's Brew Pub), has excellent food - I'm not necessarily knocking SeaDog's menu, but I think you're better off here. Have never been to Frontier, but have heard very good things. Also sounds like a better option for both food and drink.

Lion's Pride and Frontier both have much better food than SeaDog - of the two, I'd say Frontier has better food and is a very cool spot - definitely worth a visit.

Thanks again to both of you! We decided on Frontier, it's only 0.3 miles from Seadog, so it was a very easy switch. Any specific suggestions for food at Frontier?

And ONE more question (even though I just asked one in my previous post).

We have an Allagash tour scheduled on Saturday, but due to a time crunch, it may be tough to fit in. Is their tour a MUST? I've been on my fair share of brewery tours, and they've all been very similar.

Otherwise I was thinking of trying to hit up their tap room then heading across the street to Bissell, Foundation...etc.

Not gonna lie... Tour is cool and everything but they have Resurgam bottles out at the moment and they said this batch was around 3,000 bottles so if you like sours and want to try one great east coast sour I'd hit it up. Not to mention what you have right across the street in Bissell, Foundatin and Austin Street. All have great IPA's...

Hitting up just the tap room at Allagash is fine if you can't make the tour. You still get the free tasting board whether you do the tour or not.

I can buy this sour in their tasting room/retail shop without going on the tour right?

The other thing is, if we go that late, we may not be going back to our house. So there would be no where to bring this bottle to unless I want to carry it around with me all night.

You can purchase whatever bottles are available at Allagash whether you go on the tour or not. There is no guarantee Resurgam will still be around on Saturday, but there could be something else that replaces it.

Get the resurgam or you're wasting your trip to Allagash.

Is it there now? Looks fantastic.

If we don't head back to our place, are you allowed to drink whatever you purchase there at Allagash?

It is still there today, and you cannot crack bottles at Allagash.

    Great, thanks for the info!

It says on their website no open-toed shoes as well. So no sandals?

I'm thinking if we can't drink the bottle there our best bet may be have lunch, and do the Bissell/Austin/Foundation tour casually, then head over to Allagash for a tasting and buy a bottle of Resurgam. I can live with skipping the Allagash tour, I've seen many, many brewery tours and the only unique one was Cantillon. This way we're not bound by our late afternoon tour time slot.

The burgers are amazing at frontier, the fish/jerk chicken tacos with quick pickled cabbage are also good. The pulled pork braised with oxbow FPA are excellent, also have nice market plates(cheese board type things with veg/meats/cheese).

For healthier stuff they have good vegan options and salads which you can add all sorts of things to.

Burgers sound fantastic for lunch and a first "base" meal for the weekend.

We actually switched where we're staying to the Holiday Inn in downtown, so it looks like we're within walking distance of everything now. After we finish up in Topsham/Brunswick of course.

I didn't realize Allagash was about 20 minutes from downtown though.

Yeah, I would have said that all those breweries (Allagash, Bissell, etc) are about a 15min drive from the Old Port - Probably about 5miles... But definitely worth the trip while you're in town.

Thats ok, we can take taxis for that.

Trying to decide on dinner Friday, and lunch/dinner Saturday. I was thinking some combination of Nosh, Duckfat, and Pai Men Miyake. Although those all look more like lunch spots, and we'll have a large group.

Also might try to check out a few local coffee spots. Arabica, Crema...etc.

Pai Men Miyake is a must hit for one meal while you're in town - So good, and one of the best small tap lists you're gonna find... But it's not necessarily a great spot for a "large group". Could be tough.

Duckfat is awesome but it might be tough given that it's a pretty small space, so it probably depends on just how large your group really is. If you get shut-out, definitely look into the "East Ender" (http://www.eastenderportland.com/) next door. Big fan of that place - Excellent food, Real solid taps, cool place, and plenty of room upstairs.

Nosh has the space to do larger groups by putting tables together, especially for a Lunch or a Dinner on the earlier side.

Crema is my favorite coffee spot in town, but I have no complaints about the many other options in the Old Port.

Wow, you guys have all been great with your responses. This is some more great info.

We're 9 guys for dinner on Friday, 13 for lunch/dinner on Saturday.
