I recently traded for a 2015 750ml Blabaer, and I am worried about the possibility of a fake. The label seems a little... off. It is a little hard to take pictures of, but I will see if I can show what I am talking about. I'm leaning towards it being real, but I would feel more comfortable seeing another bottle with a similar label. First, the label appears a little faded, like it wasn't printed on a super nice printer. The blue background is a little faded like when a printer doesn't get the best coverage for large areas of color. Perhaps all Blabaers are like that though. Second, the ABV is in a different color of white than the rest of the label. The bottle does appear to hold the correct color of liquid, as well as a 2015 Cantillon cork, but I supposed it could be a re-labeled Kriek. Does anyone have a 2015 750ml to compare?
these labels look like they were printed on a PC. but this is the best blabaer vintage in recent years -- pop it now and enjoy!
These labels are also different than prior years (clearly) but you're appears to be legit. I had the same thought when I got one from a random trade but then a EEG trade partner sent me one and it looked the same
Good to hear! I was leaning toward it being real, but Blabaer is on the higher end of things that I trade for and I didn't think it was likely I would come by another bottle in person any time soon so I figured I would check.
@mpdavis Good on you for checking. Unfortunately, in those rare instances where we've seen beer fraud other victims quickly came forward who hadn't previously questioned it. Honest people shouldn't mind a close inspection of what is a very high value beer.
