Post Black Friday Bourbon County

Couple stores here in SD appear to be getting it in next week so like the 3rd and 4th. The ones I called do not know what variants, if any, they will be receiving though.

 

There's been a lot of talk about places getting stuff Monday/Tuesday next week, although most of that is unsubstantiated (as far as I know) speculation on BA (mostly about BevMo). There was a place I stopped at locally where the owner indicated he'd be getting his allotment Tuesday, though he didn't seem confident that that would actually happen.

 

I was told by a shop owner that smaller liquor stores with no contract with GI wouldn't have any bottles for Black Friday, but would get them usually about a week later. So keep your eyes open this coming week.

 

Last year I got a mixed case of variants at Bevmo about 2 weeks after Black Friday, and backyard rye hit a bunch of places right before Christmas, so there is certainly precedent for it showing up late.

 

To chime in here yes the vanilla this year hasn't hit a lot of socal distributors for logistical reasons. Every time a new beer is released with a new label and new abv it must get legal approval, then once that goes through there's putting on trucks from Chicago where weather conditions can play a role. So keep an eye out in the next week or so for more vanilla but I can tell you there wasn't a lot shipped out to CA.

 

So rumor is maybe bevmo gets a restock ? I've heard some my local liquor stores get a first stock next week.

 

Beachwood posted on FB that they were going to get Vanilla sometime in early Dec. I'm not holding my breath but that would be pretty great.

 

From experience last year, I got most of my BCBS on black Friday and almost all of my BCBBW the weeks after. Seems like the same thing is happening this year, plenty of BCBS but no barley wine or variants yet. Can't say the same for coffee or the 22oz variant because I've never found either in stores, but I do remember seeing instagram/Facebook posts of shops getting them in a few weeks after black Friday.

Most of the non-Bevmo/Total Wine shops I checked out on Black Friday were saying they'd get bcbs/variants in this next week. Was really pretty surprised that a number of them didn't even get BCBS for Black Friday.

San Jose stores will be getting Barleywine in the next week or so. I heard coffee isn't making it here.

 

Any word up in the Bay Area?

 

If anyone in south OC is looking, The Brewhouse in SJC just released some BCBS today and tapped a keg. It's $7/bottle and unfortunately limit 1. Better than nothing. They have probably a case of it left and somewhere between none and just a few people even know of this place so it'll probably be there a while.

 

LOL, it'll be gone before the nights over now.

 

From a manager at my local Bevmo (Redlands) I heard that they are not getting any more BCBS at all this year (till the next Black Friday) and they only had regular BCBS this year, so that sucks. I don't know if all Bevmos are like that, probably not.
Anyway, anybody got any info on Vanilla kegs in OC this week?

 

The places I talked to in San Diego said its still coming. Wed-Friday, getting hand delivered by the reps. And like every one said; last year Bevmo got another shipment or 2 after the first.
