Post Black Friday Bourbon County

good to hear. i read someone (on another forum) say something about how this year's was terrible but i have a feeling it's someone who doesn't know what the hell they're talking about

 

Split bottle of Vanilla Rye with GF.

Its ok.

 

a whole foods location in la had some vanilla but not sure which one.

also, agreed that the vanilla right now is a vanilla bomb. had it from draft and the bottle. I'll think I'll be saving my bottle for at least a couple months as well for it to mellow together.

 

I had it on draft and loved it. I would love to score a bottle.

 

The WF in Venice gets solid sh*t. Might be worth checking there...

 

Called yesterday, said they're sold out. I scored everything this year besides a bottle of Vanilla, I can't complain though as I did get to have it on draft.

 

Had vanilla, coffee, BW, and regular on tap last week. Vanilla and coffee were my favorites. I didn't think the vanilla was running hot right now, though I do think it will get better with some age. This year's coffee was the first time I've actually liked the coffee, as I haven't really enjoyed the past ones as much as regular. Regular, on the other hand, WAS running slightly hot (though still delicious). BW was decent, but was my least favorite and I decided to forgo drinking more than a taster of it in favor of a full pour of vanilla.

I agree, except for the coffee... I've always loved it. Vanilla was exceptional in my opinion and really wowed me. It's the 2nd beer I've ever given a 5.

 

for those interested, it might be better to make an appearance in store. the two i know of that scored a vanilla from WF asked the store manager for it instead of the beer guy. this is what i learned from lurking the bourbon county tag on instagram anyways.

 

I have a feeling there was a LOT of unsold BCBW. I remember visiting some other states last year and earlier this year and seeing more BCBW untouched on an endcap at one Total Wine that I did of all BCBS ever in California. Literally more than I could possibly ever carry, trade, or consume.

 

Apparently I'm not the only one who think's it's the weakest link... although weakest of BCBS is still top-notch compared with most other beers.

 

you cray cray. i can't imagine having more BCBW than i could carry or consume

 

anyone see any at whole foods and bevmos in the sf bay area?

 

The 3 Bevmos I contacted today said Black Friday was it for them.

 

dimension liquor is completely out now. Just stopped by.

 

All Total Wines said the same to me (Tustin and HB). The way they sounded, if they could've laughed at me and smeared a pie in my face, they would have.

 

But what kind of pie? I think that is the real question here. (Damn, I must be hungry)

 

I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope to find vanilla on tap somewhere. I don't care to own bottles, especially when shops are charging $40-$50.
