The forecast is for warm weather, which may not be a good thing for a first time runner. I've never run, and since I work in Hopkinton, I stay far away. But we have several first time marathoners we get in every year, and one year a friend ran when it was 80 degrees. He said that was very challenging.

Never done a marathon, but I've regularly done a half every year at Terrapin Mountain. I don't run regularly either, only when chased. Congrats to you on the Boston. And drink whatever you want afterwards, you've earned it.

That's a long run. Quite honestly, a beer might be the last thing you want afterwards. I'd wait to see what style you're craving when finished, then act on it.

Yeah, when you're accustomed to training in 40-50 degree weather over the last few months, 70+ on race day is going to be tough. Just found out a friend of mine that was in California last week procured some Russian River. Post-marathon Pliny anyone? Definitely steering clear of the sours though. As someone mentioned before, the acid from those would be unpleasant.

I 'd think that a non-alcoholic beer would be smartest - you give your body all the vitamins and minerals in beer without the alcohol. But we all know THAT AIN'T HAPPENING with any BA running the marathon. (I recently had Clausthaler's cascade-dry-hopped amber that wasn't half bad). But otherwise - Gose all the way if Pliny wasn't handed to you

Ended up drinking the Pliny on Friday night. Figured I wanted to enjoy it rather than choke it down after the race. Ran a disappointing time (4:11) based on how I was training. Had a mishap early in the race where I rolled my ankle. Threw off my gait and I never felt right. Ended up drinking a Sam Adams 26.2. And it was delicious.

4:11 is still darn good! Although 9 minutes slower would have been better
I'll bet that was one of your Top 5 exbeeriences!

I'd suggest Westbrook Gose because it's like a salty sport drink. It even tastes sort of like Gatorade.

Congrats on finishing boston. Not many people can say that. I had a great time up there too. I got to go to tree house, trillium, nightshift, jack's abby, Julio's, jack's abby again, and trillium again. Perfect weekend!!!
