That's good advice, I can see this quickly becoming an expensive hobby.[/QUOTE]

You're telling me man. Throw in the fact I want to start doing some small trades and you're looking at buying 3 or 4 bottles of a single beer instead of one. One to drink, one to age, one or two to trade.

Very true, I just traded for a dark lord which I am getting hopefully on Wednesday. Once I get it I'm going to keep it in the basement until I rig up something decent. My main concern though is humidity.

Awesome. Yeah idk much about humidity other than it could maybe cause black mold on the bottle or inside whatever you have it kept in. I don't know what to do about the bottle sweating possibly from the humidity other than maybe keeping it in an empty cooler, but again idk if that would work.

I'll be drinking them all so quick that what very little if any natural light got through I'd assume it wouldn't make much difference. If anything now I've got a legit excuse to buy a giant beer poster to cover the window.

Just upgraded from a mini fridge to a good size freezerless fridge. Now I finally have some room to grow! Got an external temp controller at 55.

This is incredible. Wanna come down to Missouri and build one for me? The most ambitious wood project I've tackled so far has been my mash paddle for homebrewing, so I'm probably not quite at the level to attempt it myself. Maybe another month or two...

I'm not as organized as I'd like to be with my "cellar". I get some light in my basement and temps can fluctuate throughout the year so I opted for an old fridge. I put some thicker pieces of wood to stabilize the wired shelving until I can get something more permanent. I threw a thermometer in to control what it sits at in the summer. The other 3/4 of the year it's unplugged. Also removed the bulbs to reduce any light. It is what it is haha

Here's what I have in there:

This is my "east coast" cellar. Basically I tried to organize it according to some rough style guidelines. Only tough part is the bruery overload on the top. I am done with Reserve Society and happier for it.

That's what Google is for, seriously. I'm not a carpenter or electrician. But I spent a lot of time searching and reading online at each step of the project. I went by the old saying, "measure twice, cut once". It took a lot of time (100+ hours working solo). But building something like this is totally possible without a carpentry background. Just read, study diagrams, and take it slow. Make sure you're comfortable with electrical work. That's the one area you should consider getting help, if you if you really know nothing about wiring. My wife picked me up a basic wiring book years ago at a garage sale and I'm comfortable switching out outlets and basic stuff like that. So this was a little bit of a stretch, but not bad.

Cool, thanks for the info. I will have to look into doing something like this in the future then. I do have a friend who is an electrician, and my dad is actually an electrical engineer, so I'm sure either of them could help with the electrical work.

I'll give you bonus points for the logo. But maybe it's just because my "beer cellar" is the same as yours (without the logo). No light penetration and safe from floods. Smart move :sunglasses: I had 60 or so bottles across two large plastic tubs, but it was so cold this winter I plowed through most of what I had amassed. Mostly just gueuze that's left now.

Work in progress. Missing stuff from my most recent VT trip and it's hard to tell but it goes about two feet deep and is pretty full in most parts. Makes it kind of a pain to get some of the deeper things out.

I noticed you're cellaring Freudian Slip. How is it with age on it. I have access to it, but I've never pulled the trigger.

That one is from 2012 I believe. The last one I had from that year held up pretty well and was enjoyable. I'm not sure when I will crack the one I show there.
