Disconnected chilling setup (plate chiller, Trub filter, 1 HP pump for ice water through chiller, and march pump for wort from BK into carboys, and temp gauge):

Awesome set up. One day I hope to have something similar albeit maybe not as large as a 1 barrel system. I feel like you could use that pilot system for your yeast starters for your 1 barrel set up.:grimacing:

Actually did that with the last batch of Rauchbier. Made a 12-liter yeast starter on the pilot system and kept in a carboy until pitching into the 30-gallon batch. Worked well.

No need to give up your parking space unless you're going overboard. Most brewing 'systems' are very portable. It's just storage space that you'll need, and that's not a parking space.

Here is a picture of my buddy in front of my system. HLT up top, 48 qt. MLT below it. Boil kettle on the lower tier. March pump in a toolbox on the ground. 55,000 BTU Bayou Classic burners under the Keggles.

Here's a picture of mine after recent upgrades. Added a pump and changed to a one-burner fly-sparge setup. The best part of it all is that long braided hose you see hanging there. No more lugging water from the house to the garage. The nozzle is food grade and also has hose threads on the end so I can just screw my wort chiller directly to it.

I know it's not very blingy. Sorry.

    I'm a 5-gal batch/BIAB brewer with a fairly generic setup:

    - 15 gal Bayou Classic stainless kettle with sight glass, thermometer and ball valve
    - Blichmann burner
    - Thermapen!
    - Barley crusher mill
    - wort chiller
    - assorted buckets/carboys
    - a large bin of miscellaneous necessities

I need to rig up something to hold by brew bag while draining, which would cut down on some awkward heavy HOT lifting....

    Fermentation:
    - fermenting bucket/carboy inside a Vissani wine fridge retrofitted with a digital temp controller

Nothing too fancy here. 6 gal HLT, 7 gallon mash tun, 15 gallon boil kettle.

What's your ID on all of that? It looks like you could sparge in about 10 minutes.

It's all 1/2 inch but the holes in the bottom are very small. I also have a valve on the HLT so I can throttle back the flow if I want to slow things down. That being said, I usually only take about 20 min. to sparge but that's because of impatience more than anything.

Our 2 car garage is only 16' at the door- if i put a cabinet where the water hookup is (one of the sides), there wont be room to open car doors if we're both parked in there haha (it's not a super deep garage either - leaves about 18" on front & back when parked). Plus, our opener is a piece of shit & the sensors won't stay aligned so I hate dealing with the thing & park in the driveway anyways..

Lots of ideas here.. It's probably still several months off for me. I'll probably be buying about 1 piece of equipment each month til it's done.

Barrels! Unless you want block parties to tear down your house, and have cops show up too.

Yes a 3 tier setup on wheels also so you can lock down the wheels after wheeling out of the garage to start up the gas heat.
