    Looking for some community input.

    Trade with @PabloGM89

I sent 2 Wild Turkey Rare Dos for his West Ashley.

West Ashley was sent via usps and arrived in a plastic bag with the box stamped "damaged in transit"

After unwrapped and opened, the outside of the box was soaked and half of it smashed. The bottle wasn't broken but the top was off and the entire box and packing was soaked.

So I notify Pablo via text with pictures and we chat and I basicall explain that in my experience there are 3 ways to handle this in my preferred order: 1) He replaces the West Ashley 2) He sends me something equivalent we both agree on 3) He sends me back both bottles I sent him.

He thinks he should only have to send me back one of my bottles and that "we should both take a hit" since we are aware of the risks of trading....

It is my understanding that it is the senders responsibility until the package arrives. Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Wrong.

    Right.

No debate. It's been the way it's always worked. He needs to do precisely one of the three things you stated.

You are completely right OP. It is his responsibility to get you the agreed to bottle when he agrees to the trade.

He needs to make good on the trade. If the package was destroyed would he be signing the same tune? Makes no sense.

Agree with what everyone else has said. Broken bottles are on the sender, that is the risk we all take.

The receiver of a box is not responsible for the bottles being destroyed during shipping. I've had one box that I sent have a leaky bottle, luckily it was returned to me by FedEx instead of thrown away. I replaced the leaky bottle and sent it back to my trade partner.

He is absolutely incorrect. It's really unfortunate that it happened, but it's part of the risk of trading. He's 100% responsible for rectifying the issue and if he doesn't, I'd think it would qualify him as a bad trader.

You have (66) registered trades and he has (7).....and he's telling you that "you both should take a hit"....hmmmm. Hope you get an *equivalent* replacement.

Agree with everyone here and one important point....

**If there is ANY perceived, damage take photos immediately... starting with the outside of the box AND as you dig inside.**

    Good job OP.

"We should both take a hit" - the idiocy of this statement hurts my head.

You got your answer, but wanted to say this was a graceful and mature way to handle the incident and solicit opinions. You didn't come out full blast or remotely negative, simply seeking opinions on the matter. Newer traders do have certain perceptions of how things supposed to be handled, especially not having frequented this Help forum. I definitely wouldn't hold it against your trade partner too much, unless he's adamant in going against the consensus written here.

Yeah, I'm interested as well, considering @PabloGM89 is on the site currently. It would be nice for somebody to update the thread.

We are communicating via text. It seems as if he doesn't have much to trade. He is working on obtaining a BA Monsters Park from a friend. I told him that would suffice along with a solid limited distro beer. I'm not trying to be super difficult.

I can go get you a BA Monsters Park from my local bottle shop right now.... Sorry, but the shift from a WA to that is quite drastic. IMO get your bottles back if you can't come to a satisfactory agreement.

He already drank one of them before the WA arrived to me. I understand its drastic. :/
