Bent Brewstillery Merges with Pour Decisions
Pour Decisions Brewing Co. Innovating tradition. Bent Brewstillery. Breaking the norm.

Two vastly differing concepts. History…Rebellion…Collaboration! Separately we can accomplish little; together we can make something truly great. One-year old Pour Decisions Brewing Company and just-released Bent Brewstillery will pool their resources and merge under the name Bent Brewstillery beginning January 1, 2014.

We are taking the best parts of two companies and making a single, stronger one. Increased bottle production, a distillery, taproom expansion, and renovation are planned starting in January 2014. The post-merger beer lineup will consist of traditional PDBC concepts, a large expansion of sour beers, and all-new Bent beers. Kristen England will continue on in the Head Brewer role at Bent to create all the tasty brews, while Bartley Blume will distill the powerful booze. Production of spirits will start early in the new year with releases following quickly.

I dunno if I like this. I like the PDBC taproom and brand. I hope nothing is lost in translation.

Only words that matter: "a large expansion of sour beers"

We need a good MN sour brewery. I have tried 4 of their sours and they're pretty good and have a lot of potential. I hope they keep it up and find the resources to get a sour barrel program going. Surly has had some great sours lately, but they do not seem interested in bottling/canning them any time soon.

I will personally keep afloat a sour brewery if they make a NG wild sour or Westbrook Gose quality beer for around $10-15 for a 4-6 pack

I had just popped on here to post this. I really liked the Pour Decisions name (and do think that it was the better name of the two), and like others, I hope that this doesn't diminish what Pour Decisions was all about, but keeping Kristen has the head brewer should mean that we'll keep getting the same delicious beers that he was doing at PD. I really need to get up there again.

Isn't there gonna be an issue with Bent Paddle having a similar name?

Am I the only one that thought Pour Decisions was a terrible name?

I'm not a fan of Bent Brewstillery either though...

I thought PD was a pretty clever name. Bent brewstillery is just plain bad IMO, but it was once said 'A beer by any other name would taste as sweet'... wait...I dont think that's right

Neither name is great, but Pour Decisions is better by far.

Their FB page says that the taproom won't be open again until at least the end of February. Bummer!

Not sure what the significance of "Rebellion" is, but I really hope their focus is more on the Pour Decisions beers.

I hope they keep some of the PDBC names and artwork. Their "ity" naming scheme, plus other oddball names, and the artwork reminds me of Russian River in a way, which I like.

So Pour Decisions is becoming Bent Brewstillery? How is that a merger? This is all kind of shocking actually. I'm a big fan of Pour D, their whole innovating tradition angle was so cool. I love history and I love brewing beer, so what they were doing really resonated with me. Well, Kristen is still manning the brewing helm, so I guess we can be greatful for that, but I'm still kind of bummed.

Bent Brewstillery was also a brewery (though, one that contracted with PD). They had their own distinct beer, their own business plan, intended to also distill spirits. They didn't have their own space. Now, they will have PD's brewery and head brewer, and Kristen will brew both his original brews as well as some BB brews. The guy behind BB will distill his spirits (and have the overall ownership, I think). It's a merger.
