Anybody out there a Jedi pouring master?

I've recently seen the light when it comes to the advantages of can packaging, but there's still nothing like getting your nose inside a glass. Would love to hear any tips you folks might have in avoiding that whole glass of foam.

poke a hole in the top of the can before you "pop the top", a la Miller Lite punch-top cans.

tilt the glass, pour slow and you should get more beer/less foam.

    Good Luck & Cheers!

If you can pour from a bottle or a tap you can pour a can

I pour them directly in my mouth hole.

I just pour it like a bottle. I don't get too much foam unless I pour hard.

I pretty much pour just like I would a bottle. I guess the only difference is I pour much more slowly at the beginning and then get a bit more aggressive near the end if I want a taller head.

Slow your pour down a bit. The glugging from the mouth of the can is what is making it foam up.

For the most part I just pour slower. But the hole in the top method helped tonight when I wanted an especially slow pour for a black and tan.

As you would with a bottle, be sure the beer is chilled and hasn't been shaken up at all before pouring.

Pop the top and let things settle.

When you pour first pour slowly toward the middle of one side of a tilted glass and be sure you pour slowly enough the can doesn't gurgle and agitate the beer during the pour.

As you get about half the beer poured you can move the glass back towards the vertical and pour towards the center of the liquid to build up the head.

With a wee bit of practice you'll get the pour to suit what you want in the glass.

I use one of these to punch a hole in the top when at home. A church key I believe people refer to it as.

I'd get a hand crank style can opener, run that all the way around the rim and bam! You're good to go. Don't use the electric one, those baby's are only good for spilling your beer.
