Power Beer Fest

Oh man you're missing a good time! Northampton is the shit (I grew up and currently live in a small town right north of it). Lots of cool stuff to do and some hidden gems, beer wise. I was just in Boston yesterday for work...man what a rush compared to out here, LOL.

 

Yeah a buddy went out there recently & brought back a beer from Progression that was really good. Had never heard of them before.

 

Yeah Progression opened a few months ago. Very high quality beer. Really cool spot too right downtown. Good food menu, large space with couches, local art on the walls, big bar. Super IPA/DIPA heavy menu though. One stout, one saison and like 6 or 7 hoppy beers when I was there a week or two ago. I'd drink any of them though...very good.

 

Northampton is definitely one of the best spots in MA for bar/brewery hopping. Its a shame there is no train(or direct bus) from Boston to Northampton.

 

It's ridiculous we don't have east-west rail from Springfield/Northampton/Greenfield to Boston. I've heard Peter Picknelly of Peter Pan Bus Lines has been one of the main lobbyists against east-west rail, due to fears of it hurting his business. It's a crime in a state like ours we can't get it done.
