I just want to give some love to the beers made in Oklahoma by Prairie Ales. They are super strong (ABV) but are really awesome and always get great reviews. I strongly encourage those that have access to their beers to give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

Welcome. Prairie is not a secret to anyone here on BA as they have some very highly ranked beers.

I remember chasing Bomb! the first time it came to Texas, and it’s still one of me and my wife’s favorites.

    Prairie is solid four shore!

I drank a ton of Prairie the year I lived in Kentucky. I probably bought more 4 packs of Prairie Standard that year than anything else. Love that beer.

Now, I can only find Prairie Standard sold as individual bottles at an inflated price. I stopped trying to decipher their dating code a long, long, long, long time ago. I probably haven't had that beer, or anything by Prairie, in maybe 5 years, I just got too frustrated with the undecipherable date coding. The increased cost to buy the beer didn't help, but given my love of saisons and the lack of that style available here in Albuquerque, I would have paid the price if I new age of the beer. I don't need super fresh, but do want to avoid old.

Pretty much the same way here. I have noticed the new cans rolling off the lines seem to have a more decipherable date. I don't worry so much about the sours/saisons but they are now selling more traditional ales in the supply chain, and that is pretty much a must have.

I bought the Pirate Noir yesterday, not sure if I will drink it tonight though. It is pretty strong and I have already slurped down a few Trappist Ales.

It's a household name at my house. Everybody knows what THE BOMB means.
Now let's talk about Roughtail. EVERTHING RHYMES WITH ORANGE is in its own league.

If you would like fresh Prairie I would be happy to trade! I live in OKC and get it regularly.

Not hating, I love their beers, just check my reviews.

However, I can’t remember the last time I bought one of their beers. That price tag of $0.60 to over $1 per ounce is just too rich for me.

Just look at what Founders is adjusting to with KBS as an example (also not my favorite beer but a bigger fan of the business model). Reduced price four packs. If Prairie did something like this with their premier beers I’d buy them again.

Edit: just looked. I have 3 of their beers in my top 30. Wish I could afford them more often.

I like them, but they are crazily priced, even when I'm in Oklahoma beer hunting. I will sing the praises of Roughtail & American Solera ( also pricey )

Seems like the stouts are finally rolling out after a lot of kettle sours all year. Any thoughts on the 2020 adjunct bombs and noirs? I haven't been able to find any in the DC area yet.

I had a standard Bomb! the other day. Still very solid, and still very pricey.

*Pirate Bomb* is my favorite from Prairie Artisan. It gets a *5* from me. I have a few aging. I found a gift pack with *Christmas Bomb* and *Texas Bomb*, which has chili peppers. :flushed:

I found a pack with two bottles of Christmas Bomb and two of Texas Bomb and a Prairie glass for $29.99. Considering the usual price of Prairie, it seemed something of a deal, relatively speaking, of course.
