Probably using a different yeast which would make a different beer.

Every clown shoes beer I have tried has been dreadful. Tequila Sombero is probably top 3 worst beers I have ever tasted.

BA Bomb, regular bomb (especially vintages), pirate bomb, apple brandy noir, and several other prarie beers are really good. Sure they are overpriced but at least they are available nation wide. I can go to my local bottle shops to grab their special releases like pirate bomb shortly after they come out with ease. I like mexican cake more than bomb but i have to trade to get MC so it isn't really cheaper to obtain and it is only released once a year. Bomb serves a purpose, you can call it a shelf turd, but that it what they are going for, a great drinking and accessible adjunct stout which can be consumed on a regular basis year around. Abraxas is $25+ for a 750ml and i dont hear any one complaining about that.

    Cool story.

And FWIW I only brought up Clown Shoes because someone eluded to the notion that Prarie is expensive because they contract brew (which was later debunked in another post). Clown Shoes contract brews and I can buy a bomber of BA beer at the same price as a 12 oz Prairie ($12.99/$13.99). And personally I find some of them pretty good.

In KBS's defense it was awesome this year lol but I completely get what your saying, Bomb! can easily stand with many of those legendary stouts.

So does anyone actually know or have an idea when Birthday Bomb! will be coming out? We need to try it so that we can transition to complaining that it tasted like all the other Bomb! variants. :stuck_out_tongue:

Au contraire mon frère! I secured two bottles of Pirate Bomb! and have drank one so far. It was definitely different then the variants I listed above.

I have a love/hate relationship with PAA. Hate their prices; but I do love their beer. Oddly, every time they release a new variant I get this fear that I'll be missing out if I don't purchase. Great marketing scheme on their part. Funny, I think the stock market operates the same way....

    Birthday Bomb?

I just checked and didn't see it on there. In fact I've not seen anything about this beer anywhere except for in this thread. I don't believe it exists.

Wow, prices are pretty wild far from Oklahoma.

Bomb is 5.99 EDLP at our shop. So was Christmas Bomb. BA Bomb (Recent one) was 9.99 as well as Pirate. I assume this one will be 5.99 which is 20% markup if it is the same case price as the original BOMB!

It's not the real label. The one that goes to print is hardly released before the beer is.

I put bomb right next to bcbs any day. Actually I might even like it over this year's release.

I seriously don't understand why people have so much hate for PAA. It seems like people on here can't stop complaining about their prices. They are a private company and if they want to be highly profitable then that's their choice. If you don't like it (or probably in most of the complainers case can't afford it), then don't buy it. I will say this though. Bomb! Is a phenomenal beer and never sits on shelves. So obviously their prices work for most people. Yes I'm sure most people wish all beer had the price point of bud light. But we all know that doesn't happen. It's just funny to me people only complain about the price. No one on here is saying it's not a amazing beer.

I agree with you on most points, but Bomb! absolutely sits on shelves in some places. I wouldn't mind if it would at least come to TN shelves, myself.

Sure does. It's been sitting around in Des Moines for a while (although when I was in iowa city it went quickly). Which is nice for me because I have a ready supply if I need more for consumption or trading!
