If bomb came in the 500ml bottles for the same price I'd buy them all the time.

Bomb! is one of my favorite "readily available" beers. Our bottle shops here in SoFla have it in stock around 75% of the time, and I like to keep a little stockpile in the cellar. Bomb! is nice and balanced, for me, with no single over powering flavor. The variants are delicious too. Except for that '14 Christmas Bomb!.... yuck.

I drink bomb close to room temperature. It's not special straight out of the fridge to me.

I've have had, and preferred BOMB! on tap. Last time I had it, they had aged the keg six months, and the peppers really came to the forefront and the coffee mellowed. I prefer regular BOMB! over Christmas or Birthday, but prefer Pirate over regular. Looking forward to trying other variants.

It could be that your palate was off or uber-sensitive due to something else you ate/drank previously in the day. I had a Bomb! recently that tasted as I remember it. I find the coffee in Bomb! relatively subtle and well balanced in relation to the other flavors. Someone else also mentioned that letting it warm up a bit is crucial.

I'm going to join the your palate's off crowd... Every Bomb! I've had - and even the notoriously sweet Birthday Bomb - had plenty of pepper and was well balanced. The BA Bomb was the only one where I didn't get as much spice, but the regular has never failed me.

I will say at 6.99 a bottle I drink it all day, and it's just as good as it ever was. Of course, if I was paying toward double that price I might become a bit more discerning.

$5.99 at The Wine & Cheese Place in St. Louis. Good luck finding a beer of that caliber at that price!

Bomb is one of those beers that sounded great on paper but fell extremely short for me. Mexican style stouts are my favorite style of beer, and bomb might be the worst representation of the style. I keep giving it a try but every time I am disappointed.

OP, I think you got a heavy coffee batch. I Love this beer, I personally find it well balanced each time I've tried it. I've had four-five different batches and all have been great/consistent.

How many 13% ABV beers are you buying 6 packs of? Bell's Exposition is 10.5% and there's no coffee or heat and that is $18 for 6.
There's a lot going on in Bomb and I just buy a bottle or 2 every now and then.

Just a different strokes kinda thing. Just a beer I don't really get, and Bomb here is $10 a bottle plus tax. I might dabble and give it a shot every now and then if it was half the price, but IMO the price is outrageous for something of this nature. If I Want a coffee stout I'll grab a Kbs or BC coffee. I get one MC a year, and I'd buy more if I could, IMO it's far more interisting than Bomb, and it's more than just a bit more heat, it's certainly not hot. But everyone's different, it's quite clear it's a favorite of many and that's fine. It's not a bad beer by any means though, just not for +10 a bottle.

Coffee Okie was awful..like drinking turbo charged black coffee. But i didn't find Bomb to be all coffee

I think the coffee brown ales (like Coffee Okie, Revved Up, Sumatra, etc...) feature the coffee much more prominently than any coffee stout I've had. That is probably due to the relatively subtle flavor profile of the base beer. Since stouts have much stronger flavors to begin with, there is more competition for the coffee to stand out.

I can say myself i have had multiple batches. Ones with wax and without and every batch has varied some being more pepper some being more coffee.

The beer is good but not worth the price.

Yes, All of Prairie's line-up has pretty much changed to be straight coffee bombs. After Coffee Okie, I noticed that Prairie Bomb, BA Bomb, and Pirate Bomb, were all coffee bombs. Yes Yes yes you are right.

This year's Bomb wasn't nearly as good as last year's, but Birthday Bomb has plenty of what I was expecting from Bomb, and then some.
