All over Dallas right now. Lonestar Beverages in Carrollton has about 6 cases out, 12 per person @ $8.99 per bottle
Sits on the shelves @ $6.50 here. A damn good beer by all means, but doesn't warrant that kind of price anymore. Notice it has jumped up in the 250 to 32. Seemed like it was in the 50-60 range last time I looked.
I've never finished one and said, "Well that was a waste of money!" That said, I don't buy 12 at a time.
Yeah, all kinds of Prairie variants sit now. My local Total Wine probably has 6 or 7 brews of theirs just sitting. Bomb, Wine Noir, Whiskey Noir, Bible Belt, and a couple of their farmhouse ales. Just too pricey.
Why is this even news? W00tstout is still available for $7.99 a bomber and you can get a variety of 6-packs of top notch IPA for around the same price.
I'm not a fan of Prairie prices either, but W00tstout was lame. Another over-hyped beer. I'd rather buy Bomb! to be perfectly honest.
I feel this way about everything Stone does, but I never feel like anyone else is thinking it. Not that I don't like/love some of their stuff. They're just a big hype machine.
Yeah, I second that it is still too damn pricey...I'd rather get a sixer of Community IPA for that price!
I totally agree with the sentiment that rarity equals goodness way too many times. I will note that over time I've noticed the BA community as a whole is generally pretty discerning, and you can, more times than not, trust trends on BA (excluding the session IPA one of course).
I am a big fan of bomb....but I don't buy it often. Actually, quite rarely. Partly due to the price point.
Sometime you can get it at a bar for ~$10. That's the only time I ever buy them in the int he bottle other than the Christmas Bomb, which I like.
7.99 a bottle at Total Wine. Or at least here in SA it is. Which beats paying $10.99 at Specs any day.
