How long are the non-Pirates aged for? I just realized I know nothing about how long Prairie ages their BA beers for.

Many brewers, and Prairie seems to be among them, don't disclose how long they age in the barrel. And I doubt they intentionally age it in the bottle. When I've had fresh Pirate it is pretty good, but aged a few months makes it wondrous, with rum sweetness coming to the front. I haven't noticed that much of a change in their bourbon barrel stouts when aged.

You'll be glad to know that Pirate Noir and Pirate Bomb release in January, so just around the corner! Bring on the rum!

I just realized you were referring to aging them after purchased...I thought you were referring to how long they are aged in barrel. :flushed:

Just dropping by to say this is one of the best wide distro BA stouts that I have had. The body on Prairie stouts always knock them down a notch from the top tier ones for me, but the barrel and adjunct flavor on this one are killer.

My wife managed to pick up a bottle of this for me today. I'm interested to see how the barrel does with the coconut on this. I tend to not like coconut stouts unless they are barrel aged, as the coconut is usually too strong in non-BA versions for my liking.

Second time I've heard that, so I'll considered it confirmed! I'll buy as much as I can find. Last year I got two Pirate Noir and it was just OK fresh. Six months later I had the second one, and wow, almost as good as Pirate Bomb.

Let me know if you find any! I've been checking Lizardville, Rozis, Macks every delivery day last couple of weeks....nothing!

It was Lakeview Binny’s. I think all the city locations got them yesterday or today. Bitter Pops also got it in today.

Is the base beer for this just regular Paradise? Going from 13% to 15.9% through barrel aging seems like a pretty big jump.

I personally thought regular Paradise had too much of a suntan lotion flavor to even enjoy, similar to the flavor I get from Last Snow, but not really any other coconut stouts/porters. Did anyone not enjoy regular Paradise but really enjoy Bourbon Paradise?

Agreed, regular not nearly as good as bourbon

I couldn’t stand regular Paradise, but have yet to open the Bourbon version.

I had a Bourbon Paradise last night and gotta admit, it was kinda disappointing. I'm as big a Prairie stout fan as the next guy, but that beer was too boozy and the vanilla was too artificial for me. And it had a soda pop consistency. It kinda tasted like a Vanilla Coke. It's nowhere near on the same level as an Okie Paradise (which I understand may not be best comparison).
