If I am remembering my Bombs correctly, some of the kegs last year were really screwed up. I had it on draft twice and it was way off of the bottles.

We don't get Shelton here in Pittsburgh so I'll have to seek out these new bottles over in Ohio.

It is brewed year-round, but it is not shipped to us year-round, if that makes sense (at least in Dallas.)

In other words, it is not sitting on the shelves 24/7 for the full year, it is shipped in batches every few months.

Can I get a quick synopsis of the Shelton Brothers?

Or should I just google it?

Saw a vanilla bean bomb just arrived at my local liquor store. Will definitely pick it up if it's there next time I am. Really liked last year's xmas bomb, so if it was a bad year I'd probably love the other years. Total shelf turd, I'm guessing because it's so fucking expensive.

I actually enjoyed Xmas Bomb last year, although most people I know did not.

That said, I'm excited for the recipe tweak, as even though I liked last year's, it did seem a bit muddled. Bomb already has a bunch of stuff in it--chocolate, vanilla, chiles--adding spices (plural) may have been too much. Adding only cinnamon bark might allow it to be a little cleaner.

Side note: is anyone else bemused at the fact that they are referring to it as "cinnamon bark"? My understanding is that the spice we all know as cinnamon is the bark of the plant. So "cinnamon bark" is sort of redundant, no?

Ugh... We'll be getting it for $10.99. I think a trade is cheaper for people that receive our distribution.

I've had Bomb! and loved it, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it when I saw it this summer. I was passing through Atlanta and stopped at Hop City. They had TONS of Bomb! on the shelf. It was $28 a 4-pack, so I understand why it was still there. Most barrel-aged beers are cheaper. A 4-pack of BCBS was cheaper!

Price aside I just don't get Bomb, no pepper , no heat, bland, kinda mediocre IMO. $9 a bottle no thanks.

Going to visit my daughter up in OK in December, will probably try to make their taproom. Downtown Tulsa is a great place to visit. Hope they have some on tap when I am there, if not at Prairie's taproom hopefully McNeilie's will, that is where I plan on spending most the day while my daughter is working.

Unfortunately, Prairie won't be able to offer it on tap at their brewery. By law they are required to only sell "table" beer at 4%. However, if you go during a tour they might be able to offer a small sample.

The tap room should be able to sell stronger brews, but no growler fills on beers over 4%. I have been to the taproom but only had Priarie Vous which was low ABV. In Oklahoma City at Roughtail Brewery taproom I had Prairie Bomb! And Hoptometrist which is 9% ABV. Makes me think that PAA taproom would be no different.

Tampa here. Prairie stuff normally sits on the shelves because of price. Bomb! will eventually be bought up but takes a few weeks now.

Have the laws recently changed then? I know that they were prevented from pouring their own high point beers but maybe pouring other breweries high point beers is a loop hole that others exploit. I know that at their last tour in August they only poured low point beers. The few times I've been out there they have only had low point beers on tap.

Regular BOMB! is pretty good from a bottle, but it's outstanding on tap!

$28 for a 4 pack of Bomb is a good deal to you? So much so that you'd buy all you could grab? Its a good beer don't get me wrong, but the price is absurd.

When regular Bomb! is $9.99 a bottle, $5.99 is a bargain.

This is where we differ. Brooklyn Chocolate stout is a bargain at $6.99 a four pack. Narwhal and FBS are a bargain at $8.99 a four pack. Even at $5.99 per, Bomb would be $24 a four pack, therefore not a bargain.
