Prairie Noir & Bomb! variants

    Walk into my one of my regular stores the other day just to browse, not expecting much. Find out Prairie Noir, Vanilla Noir, Coffee Noir, and Pirate Noir, along with BA Bomb! are all in stock. I couldn't believe my luck on that. Been trying to get Vanilla and Pirate for a while now. Checked out Prairie's website and looks like they were Tweeting about some of these and Pirate Bomb! about a month ago. No Pirate Bomb!, but hoping it'll show up.


    Anyone else see all these pop up like this? Any PB sightings?

    Never seen that much Prairie Noirs or Bombs! available.. I sure hope we see a similar supply in Chicago.

    Pirate Bomb and the Noir variants came out in Oklahoma the day before Thanksgiving. I haven't seen Pirate Bomb in Michigan yet, but barrel-aged bomb and vanilla noir got here this week.

    Nor had I. And I hope you do too. Was pretty shocked actually. So was my wallet, but so it goes. The only other crack I had ever had at any of these was regular Noir laying on the floor of a store in a single, plain, unmarked brown box. Peeked in it and saw the smoking catfish looking up at me. I felt pretty lucky that day. That was a year ago...

    I am hoping I can find some barrel aged bomb. Got some pirate bomb last year. Amazing beer.

    What part of Michigan are you in? I haven't seen/heard anything in the SE part of the state yet.

    So far only *one* of my regular stores in metro Detroit got some Vanilla in and did a release Saturday at 6pm (and I couldn't make it). I have yet to see/hear anything else from the 8-10 stores I keep an eye on.

    Holiday Market (Royal Oak) got barrel-aged and 8 Degrees Plato (Ferndale) got vanilla. Another place I was able to get barrel-aged bomb from last year didn't get any yet, and at this point it seems like they won't.

    Yeah, I found out today that my normal places had it come and go quietly last week in very small quantities. Some places didn't get any allocated while others had to choose between getting a single case of Vanilla Noir *or* a single case of BA Bomb.

    Meanwhile, I'm seeing friends in other parts of the country watch stores get case upon case of all the Noirs + Pirate Bomb and BA Bomb.

    I know Shelton has only been back in Michigan for a little over a year, but it's disappointing.

    Lansing got BA Bomb last Wednesday. As our store tweeted it out while we were sitting at our local bar drinking TC whiskey 30th anniversary and jupiter. We saw it and decided we were good where we were at :slight_smile:

    Champaign-Urbana. Conversation I was having with someone got me thinking, so checked the bottling dates. All March 2016 from what I can tell. Don't have the Pirate anymore, so not sure on it. Maybe the distributor held onto it for a while before sending out and it's coincidence that my area got it when others are getting much smaller quantity, but maybe more recent bottles?

    What's the difference between Pirate Bomb! and Pirate Noir? I looked at the beer profiles on here and it seems they're both stouts aged in Rum barrels. Pirate Bomb obviously uses regular Bomb as the base...does Noir just use a non-Bomb stout as its base?
