Incredibly, I go into my other regular store (different one from my original post) today to pick up CW BBS, and they offer me the entire same allotment. All 4 Noir and BA Bomb! But this time I'm offered 2 of each! They got even more of it than the last place. Couldn't believe it. I grabbed another Pirate and went about my evening. My wallet just can't take much more.

I guess my greater point is not to be that guy on here and brag, but rather that there seems to be quite a bit of this out there, and if you are looking, keep on the good fight. Odds are probably decent you'll get.

For those of you in SE Michigan still looking, Prairie Noir and Pirate Noir have landed in Ann Arbor.

Just rounding things out here. Drank my Noir last night. Really sweet. Lots of barrel and oakiness happening. Good, but my "least favorite" of the line. So for me: Coffee>/= Pirate>Vanilla>Noir.

Finally had my Vanilla Noir at the end of last week. I enjoyed it...just about at the tipping point for me in terms of vanilla flavor. It actually reminded me quite a bit of the Vanilla Rye I had a couple months back - very much like a chocolate chip cookie. I drank the whole 12 oz. bottle by myself, which is about the limit I could handle for that style of beer. I think this will be great for those that are really into this style.

I also had my buddy's BA Bomb! on New Year's Eve...that was already after way too many other beers, so can't give a great impression of it with details. However, I recall both of us commenting that we liked it.

I'll probably open Pirate Noir next, but not sure when.

^ Agree with everything on Vanilla...except the part where I had a VR :slight_frown:

Opened my last year's BA Bomb with some friends back in Oct. Same in that we had drank several others first, but we intentionally saved Bomb until the end as it's a fairly intense beer to start. We all thought that the aspects we love about regular Bomb were all muted. It wasn't bad, just a bit of a let down. Be interested to see if I have the same experience with this one.

At risk of jacking my own thread a bit, is Christmas Bomb the same from year to year? I had '15 on Christmas eve, '16 on Christmas day. Really preferred the '16.

I believe Christmas Bomb varies slightly every year. That being said I know quite a few people who didn't care for the '15 but liked it every other year (like '14 and '16).

The 2014 version used "holiday spices", which I believe amounted to nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon bark.

The 2015 version replaced the nutmeg and ginger with additional cinnamon bark, per this: http://tenemu.com/news/prairies-christmas-bomb-returns-this-week/11/2015

But it sounds like the recipe for 2016 is a redux of 2016--cinnamon added to Bomb! instead of nutmeg/ginger: http://prairieales.com/index.php/2016/11/10/its-that-christmas-bomb-time-of-year/

Interestingly enough, I've talked to people that had issues with their 2015 bottles. Just undrinkable in a way they couldn't quite describe--not sour, just off. I didn't have any of those off bottles, but I didn't think Christmas Bomb was anything special either 2014 or 2015, and I'm a huge cinnamon stout beer freak.

But the real story is BA Christmas Bomb, which was fantastic. I thought it tasted like a boozy, bourbon-infused marshmallow in the best way. The flavors melded together in a way I didn't remember them doing in the 2014 and 2015 non-barrel aged versions.

Now, a friend of mine had regular 2016 Christmas Bomb and also described the marshmallow aspects, so maybe the recipe is different after all.
