    My husband and I live in San Diego and plan Austin trips fairly regularly, once or twice a year. Is there a way to predict what releases will take place and thus plan a better time to visit the brewery? We may visit sometime between January and April 2018 again but I feel from recent trips it is fairly random what gets released. Anyone have some suggestions for better times to get some of the releases that typically sell out much faster? I love the stuff that sticks around longer but it would be nice to get some of the more limited bottles.

    Base it on what was released last year for fruited sours. That is the general timeframe that it will be released this year.

    They release beers when they are ready. There is no set schedule. There is no being able to predict a release to plan a vacation.

    Your best bet is if you miss a release, set up a trade with someone IP for some SD beer to trade at the brewery. Simple. And don't worry about the exact weekend.

    The good news is that they seem to be producing quite a bit more of most of the releases, so it is just a matter of finding someone near there (or who goes often) who is willing to pick up a few extras to trade when they visit...

    @aschwab & @elbrooksie are spot on.

    I live in Houston (obviously a little closer then SD, but still too far for me to commit to going for every release).

    My contribution is this....if you go back and search through the pictures on their Facebook page to see when each beer was released, that'll give you a pretty good idea. Don't focus so much on the exact date, rather just focus on which weekend in the month (i.e. second weekend in June; third weekend in September, et al.)

    For the past two years they have released Atrial on the second weekend in July (the weekend after Fourth of July weekend).

    What you really need is a trade partner who will be your Jester King mule and trade some SD beers for the JK ones year round.

    Well my one contact so far doesn't drive so they can't easily visit the brewery. Plus I like to come out regularly and enjoy the vegetarian/vegan restaurant scene and other breweries. I also quite enjoy the more widely available stuff that I have gotten in previous trips (Ol Oi, Funk Metal). Plus with the limits that are often imposed on JK beers I would have to have someone who doesn't care about sours themselves so much.

    Late winter/early spring is my favorite time to visit JK. They have world class beer available every weekend, so hopefully when you visit the weather will be nice and you can enjoy the surrounding grounds. Enjoy what they have available, and trade for the ones that really pique your interest.

    Your in luck, I am exactly that person. Could care less about sours, really only drink stouts and porters.

    I live pretty close to JK but don't care for sours. I felt obliged to stand in line out in the July heat to grab some Atrials. My friends appreciated it.

    Biere de Syrah today was a perfect example of how unexpected some JK releases can be. Btw, it's phenomenal again, just as it was in 2015, maybe even better... red-pink lacey, slightly tart, peppery and crisp.
