Storm preparation is serious business in Florida, but I couldn’t help but think of what beers I would try and stow away in a cooler or bag if I had to evacuate the family to a shelter or travel out-of-state. Beer should be the least of our worries in this situation, but hey, let’s make light of a stressful situation and discuss .

I’m a little fortunate that I live in the Pensacola area and Erika’s projection doesn’t include us, but if she makes a turn our way, I’d probably pack a few cans of White Oak Jai Alai, an Upland Vino Red I’ve been holding on to, and a couple bottles of BOMB!

Hurricanes are no joke. And so yeah, stock up on water, ice down some easy-drinkers and put your rare stuff by the front door with your important papers.

Ten years ago, when all the hurricanes were projected to pass over the Tampa Bay area, the steady drumbeat on TV was, "Stock up on water. Do it now before supplies run out." So, I went to my nearby Publix. There were PALLETS of drinking water by the front door. I mean, tons of water: gallon jugs, bottles, two-gallon boxes, etc. I grabbed a bunch and went to my favorite section, where -- with the exception of a few sixers of some NA stuff -- there wasn't a single beer to be found. Water? All day. Beer? Not a drop.

That's the premise for a good horror story.

    Be safe Florida peeps.

Yes, the horror of not having beer to drink while riding out a storm!

Here's hoping Erika dissipates and/or makes a hard right turn back into the Atlantic Ocean.

Y'all stay safe! If it isn't too bad, maybe we can all pack up and head over to @The_Snow_Bird place for a hurricane bottle share.

Don't think St. Augustine is gonna get hammered too hard if it stays on this projection(of course it seems to radically change every day lol), South Florida folks be safe.

Well, Erika wimped out this morning. Went from predicted hurricane, to storm, to depression, and now a "blob of moisture". I am changing my salutatory beer from Victory Storm King to Founders KBS; over-hyped and gone before many people get it.
