What is the best way to preserve the beer in a growler? I have seen various tools uKeg, Growl Tap, Growl Saver? My goal is to have fresh, cold beer on a fishing/camping trip. Right now our thoughts are to keep a keg at the cabin and use the keg to fill a growler utilizing one of these tools in order to have fresh, cold beer throughout the day and evening while fishing/canoeing.

I have had good luck with those that can be charged with CO2. I have a Brew Tek, picked it up at Whole Foods. I have used it several times and am happy with the quality of the beer.

Buying bottles or cans is not an option?
I like to finish growlers once they've been opened. Over the course of an evening at the most. There are half growlers out there. Yo may prefer to have two half growlers and that way the second one will still be fresh when opened.

Been meaning to get a growler like this. How much did this cost you at Whole Foods?

As long as the keg at the cabin has a tap not a handpump, you should have no problem accomplishing this without one of those; I assume you'll have multiple growlers and each one will only last an hour or two once opened? If you have the option, overcarb the beer a bit on its way into the growler and it'll last a little longer.

Especially if you do it this way.

No, we cannot bring glass or aluminum out onto the water or camping area.

That sounds very cool. Not sure if WF will have em here though. They don't sell booze in these stores.

I've used the Growl Tap and really liked it. In some cases, the beer tasted pretty good several days after opening when I used it. Just be sure it'll fit the growlers you're planning to use!

Go to their website and send them a message, they do a lot of work with breweries and can probably tell you if someone in your area has them or what brewery they have printed them for. Currently they are not selling from their website in the states
