And, even if we're only talking about beers that age well, for every person like you who'd like to get the beer by simply paying more (because presumably you can), don't you think there are 2 people who would rather save their money and just put in some time/effort?

That's my point though. They may choose to expand at some point and distribute farther, but for the last few years they've been content to supply the local area, where it's one of the easier great beers to get (much easier than Hill Farmstead, or Lawsons).

I'm not assuming that. Whether widely-distributed or not, my point is that pricing is off in some cases. I did however mention that for beers (particularly of the hoppy variety) that are purely sought after, without being an extra expense for the brewery (as say a BA stout would be), then it's not as simple as raising the prices. And either way, I don't think Heady applies here. If I really wanted some, I'm certain I could drive up to VT and get it. My point is that for KBS (sorry to keep using this, but it's an easily relatable example for most people), it doesn't matter where someone goes, they may very well not be able to get hold of it. This is the type of beer that I'm talking about.

Nope. I said this in an earlier post:

"Just want to point out - I'm not someone swimming in money who wants prices to go up. I generally do get to score the beers I want, and if I miss out I don't really care.

My observation was more from what I read on BA. Seems there's just so much demand for a lot of these beers, that when you consider the BHQ (butt hurt quotient), individual stores being clever about pricing, and grey market sales, it's surely just a matter of time."

Re: time and effort - the point is that for certain beers, it seems people are putting in an unlimited amount of both in some cases, and still coming up empty.

I see what you mean now. All I can say is that I'm glad breweries aren't doing what you're suggesting they might do. The whole thing would just seem...less fun.

Keep beer prices down....I'd rather not buy a beer because it sold out than because I think its too expensive. I have no problem not landing a specific beer, plenty of other great offerings on the shelves to turn my attention to.

When Prairie started out you could pick up most of their beers in bombers from 10 to 14 bucks a bottle , then Bomb and Pirate Bomb came out and they went for 7 dollars or more for Bomb and 8 or 9 for Pirate Bomb which is 45 to 55 bucks a six pack plus tax here in Arkansas , a great beer but for the price I can do a lot better. Now after those beers took off they have dropped their other beers down to 16.9 oz bottles and for the Christmas ale its 12.40 a bottle which comes out to 54 bucks plus tax if you broke it down into six pack pricing , way too much , you watch their facebook page and they are traveling to Europe every other month so maybe they need to raise the price to help fund these trips , who knows , my small complaint for the day
