Priming a 1 gallon batch for bottling

    How many ounces of water sugar solution is added to carb a 1 gallon batch?

    There is no rule for the volume of beer. It depends on the style as different styles should have different levels of carbonation. Also depends on what you like. Most brewing software has a carbonation calculator for you.

    Imho, ~2.4 volumes is a nice middle of the road carb level.

    What is it's styled after a cask ale? Or what if it's a saison?

    Yeah...my brew buddies prefer that. I'm in the minority, preferring more carbonated brews. Just did a kvass at 3.5, which I think is ideal for that. I'm usually happy around 3, but if somebody doesn't ferment completely then primes for a high CO2 level, there's more chance of a bottle bomb.
