anybody ever cellared st. bernardus prior 8, how did it fare what were the results etc. I know technically speaking it should be a fine candidate for aging but any detailed commentary about this would be appreciated.

I keep all my 8 in my drinking stock. It's one of those that is well-balanced from the get-go (as opposed to 12, which can be hot fresh IME).

But, hey, you make a good point. I'll move a few 8s up to the aging stock and give it a go in a year or two.

my review of a bottle in 2014, I think it did well:

750 ml corked and caged bottle, 2010 vintage, so 4 years old.
Medium body color, foamy off white head. Very nice aroma - complex malt, bready, nutty. Same flavors in the taste, plus some earthy herbal notes. Medium body, soft smooth carbonation. Very nice dubbel, a prime example overall.
