I often get held up by work or life and can't always ship as quickly as I'd like to, but always communicate with the other party so they are not left in the dark. Thankfully most have been cool and very understanding. I don't think I would want to trade with anyone that isn't also a reasonable human being that understands real life can sometimes get in the way. I guess this case is a little different if it was clear that you needed to get the box by a certain day. That is kind of shitty.

I'm very reasonable if the communication is good and I was very nice about it until he stopped responding. Even if he had let me know earlier this week that he couldn't get it out on time, we could've worked out his shipping when I got back. Instead, he just told me it was coming Wednesday and hasn't responded to say why it didn't show up.

I got that...and my post was not directed at you by any means. I was just using this thread as another opportunity to get on my soapbox. Carry on.

This reason is why I created that thread in the first place. Bad Trader list or not, I would never trade with him again even though he came through with the beer we agreed upon plus some nice extras. It's all about communication. If you are good with completing a trade with someone who will not communicate and drive you crazy and a trade that you need to babysit, handhold, make phone calls, then by all means, trade away. If not, steer clear.

Ronin... I hope everything works out for you. I know the spot you are in and it does suck. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt is one thing but once they exceed the 3 strikes and your out excuse rule, the benefit of the doubt turns into plain doubt.
You could give the guy an ultimatum and let him know you know he's been on the forum and could easily reponded to your message. Having to babysit a simple beer trade should not happen.

This is the problem with the black and white "good trader" vs "bad trader" labeling. This guy isn't anywhere near bad enough to be a bad trader - he's just slow and doesn't communicate perfectly.

It's just a great example of the importance of a trader feedback system. As the trading community continues to grow, we're going to start seeing more and more "in-between" types of traders who do various things that are going to rub some people the wrong way. Many people will still be ok trading with them, but some will not, and it's good to know more about what you're getting into.

I'd be pretty pissed if I set up a trade to be done well in advance of a vacation, communicated that importance repeatedly, and then got totally blown off. Especially if I was planning to take the beers in question to be enjoyed on said vacation.

That was the idea anyways. He still could ship these today, or probably even tomorrow and get these to me on time but I'm not feeling it's very likely.

That sucks. Lets hope this thread helps.

Not sure what'd be worse: not having delicious new beer to try on vacay, or the wife starting the rag on the way to the airport. What am I saying, not having beer is definitely worse.

He apparently only has a 4" cellphone screen and could also be dieting. How can you expect him to get the box out with shit like that going on?

I remember this thread. I actually just dropped a box off to be shipped to
him the morning that this thread was posted. The thread obviously concerned
me and I went back to FedEx and snagged my box before it left. I messaged
him and said I was gonna hold my box until he said he shipped and pointed
him to that thread. A couple of weeks went by (hurricane Sandy in the
meantime) and he sent me a note that it was shipped with tracking info. I
shipped my box. The trade went well and he sent 5-6 12 oz extras. I don't
doubt you'll get your beer.....eventually. Unfortunately it just won't be
    on the timeframe you expected.

Mike ended up responding to a text message I sent him saying he was out of state the last couple days and says he'll ship to me tomorrow morning. This should be all set.

As of yet, he had not responded with a tracking number. Sent him a text a few hours ago ago but no response.

He has no problem starting ISOs and BMing to set up other trades while ignoring his existing trades. In the end he did send his box (weeks late) so not a 'bad trader' but not someone that I enjoyed trading with.

I guess not bad trader status (yet) but it does make me wish that we had a system that we could rate trade partners with comments. At that point the black and white of good vs bad is gone and the grey area in between can be used as a trading tool.

Are you kidding me! I have been in contact w/ RoninTK3 a few times it's not like i failed to communicate w/ him or anything. Told him I was running behind and made sure I got his package out while I was working before the Fedex last pickup to ensure he would have it before he left for vacation on monday. I confirmed all this with him! The box is enroute to him and the tracking number is 045707515181912 w/ Fedex. I spoke w/ him yesterday and xplained I would definately have it out today w/ Fedex.

I am getting real sick and tired of sensitive traders! I have done over 225 trades all across the country and have yet to stick anyone for beer. Did it ever occur to anyone that some people have careers and families. I worked the 4 to 12 shift for the police department this evening and made sure i shipped the box while i was working which i should not be doing to ensure he got it before leaving for vacation. Just got off now which is why i have not contacted him yet today.

Shit, I have trades in progress that the other party got there beer 2 weeks ago and i have still not received my end. I am not sweating it in the least. I always get the beer I am owed and I have never pressured anyone because it's only beer and life comes first sometimes.

I'm sorry if you feel like I jumped the gun on this, perhaps I did, but I'm sure you can see why I was frustrated. Regardless, this is on its way so there's no problem here.
