I believe the early splinter series releases had some epic line cutting.

I usually like to play it honest cause I get embarrassed easily...but two of my friends are freaking NINJAS when it comes to cutting. I was at a Bruery event like two years ago and they were already in line and gave me tips on how to cut, though I kept saying no its ok, I'll go to the back. They somehow convinced me and the one and only time I ever tried to cut I was called out by the masses. Horrifying. So now I just give people money to go and buy beer for me

It happened to me and my buddy smutty33 at this years Kate The Great Day, we were about 150th in line and we ended up being the last 2 out of 300 in the door when Portsmouth Brewery opened. If Tod ends up doing one more year of KTG at Portsmouth before brewing Kate under a different name at his brewery and i decide to go again i will definitly open my mouth.I dont give a flying fuck if youre friends with someone in line, get in line early like the rest of us asshole....CHEERS

Dark Lord Day 2010. Line for bottles crisscrossing with lines for guest taps, crisscrossing with lines for the Port-o-Johns, crisscrossing with lines for food. I think I probably cut line when I got my bottles. To this day, I'm still not 100% sure, but then again, how would I or anyone know?

I definitely understand that, 2010 DLD was a cluster fuck. I was specifically speaking about this year with the lines outside before the event. The lines inside were a total joke as usual.

I think if one person has acknowledged the people behind him that he has ONE friend parking the car and joining within the next few minutes- thats completely fine.

If there are people behind you waiting for 2+ hours and all of a sudden your FOUR friends show up 15mins prior to opening- thats a dick move

I was told back in the SF Toronado 25th anniversary event, a BA with a good spot on the line basically pull a "chat and cut' with a good number of mules. 20 bottles of T25 and Cable Cars...too bad other guys brought the rants to this site instead of taking care of it on the spot.

Rampant at GABF given the layout of the tables and the varying length of lines. Waiting in the Russian River line I saw at least a dozen people go to the next table over that had no line and creep their way over for a pour

My first GABF this year was a real lesson in line cutters. The russian river line comes to mind. THe funny thing was, although it looked long it only took a couple minutes. Right as I got to the front this ass clown walks to my left, and then has the nerve to start asking questions about the damn beer. If your are so lazy that you can't wait five minutes, at least know what the hell you want when you get there, as opposed to saying, "what's good here?" I should have said try the fresh hopslam, it's better than all these anyway..

I guess I'm a sucker. I go to the end and wait my turn.

Missed out on KBS at a fest this summer after witnessing a tonne of line cutters. Unthrilled, so I cried some tears into a dozen other amazing beers.

Since I have a few years on most of you, but still haven't been to one of the releases where everyone waits for hours to either get a sip, or buy bottles, or whatever else, I will share what ticketmaster used to do back in the early 80's when you had to wait in those same type of lines for hours, or even overnight. They would say no lines ups prior to X time, and random wristbands will be distributed at X time. That way it was more luck of the draw, and everyone pretty much had an equal shot. They would pick a starting number, and then you would enter MusicPlus in that order to buy your rolling stones tickets. This would alleviate hours in line and a dozen friends jumping in line in front of you ten minutes before the "whatever" event begins.

That sucks man. I'd never cut in line either and would feel violated(sounds lame, but true) having people cut in front of me. I've never been to a special release because we don't have any cool breweries here that anyone gives a shit about, but I'm pretty sure I'd make it clear to any line cutters that they needed to head to the back of the line.

I guess it depends on the individual situation.

Haha, haven't heard that name in a loooong time. I remember when they rented VHS tapes before you could buy them, and they had a price tag on the videos you rented as to how much it would cost if you lost it and the prices being near $85 for a VHS...so crazy.

I'd be more up in arms if I hadn't had KBS before. Luckily I had, and have some at home now in case the mood strikes. I do remember shouting "overrated!" when the line dissipated after the keg emptied and many left KBS-less. :stuck_out_tongue: It helped.

Pretty accurate, but in my experience the chat-and-cut is followed by the cutter staring off into the distance, scanning the horizon for as he continues to chat. My suspicion is this allows him to avoid looking at the people standing near him and pretending he had no idea there were 100's of people standing behind him.

Cutting was a big problem at the last DLD but it had the advantage of keeping the dumbasses up ahead of you.

Yes there are, and it's up to the breweries/beer bars to figure out how to deal with them. Too bad that, in my experience, most of the time they ignore the issue.

I blame Vegas for letting the important and well connected cut the line.
