So I tried this years three Budweiser Project 12 beers. North Coast Style Lager Vanilla Bourbon Cask Beechwood Bock I must say, all though neither of them are over the top I'm actually impressed with Project 12 this year. Black Crown was nothing special at all, but this year each of these beers actually have some decent flavor to them. I was wondering if anyone else has tried these beers and what their thoughts were on them. Cheers!
ive been curious about the vanilla bourbon cask but i dont normally drink budweiser and im not a big fan of beers that only come in variety packs(which sucks.because samuel adams actually has a pretty good sounding beer in there winter favorites) ive actually been lookin at founders lately.there kentucky breakfast stout sounds kinda good and its 4th on beeradvocate's top 250 beers
Yeah I know what you mean. I wish they did it in a sample 6 so that way you don't have a lot of beers if you don't like one. KBS is amazing. have you had any Founders or their Breakfast Stout alone?
I agree these are all descent but not great. By far my favorite is the Beechwood Bock, I think this beer could hold it's own against some other breweries flagships like Boston Lager and Dead Guy Ale. The North Coast Style Lager was okay but it had sort of a weird fruity flavor in my opinion. Still decent and I would bet that this would be the most commercially successful of the 3. Vanilla Bourbon Cask is interesting, its light but still has a vanilla and marshmallow flavor. I would say this is the worst of the 3.
Interesting. I thought the Beechwood Bock was the worst by a fair amount. That being said, I could drink it. I think the Pacific Lager does have the best commercial potential with the market for pale ales and it having a small, but decent, hop profile. The vanilla bourbon has basically no bourbon, but I liked the light vanilla flavor.
Havent had this one yet, but bought a case of the first run last year for 12 bucks. U couldn't even gives these away. Yuck. My nanny (grandma) is a bud drinker and I gave her some and she didn't even like it. I had the black crown in April at Stone wall in New York. Granted I had like 6 cans of freshish Genny Bock and this shit sobered me up. I will not make this mistake again.
Reviving this thread. I just found these in a store for $1.25 a piece (or $7 for a mix and match 6pk). I picked up the Vanilla Bourbon Cask and the Beechwood Bock. I don't have any expectations, but I am seriously curious about these, having never seen them before. I will reserve judgment until I try them.
