I have never tried Project Dank and I have family in New Mexico coming to visit and they said they would bring me some. They found several bottles which were all bottled in February will this still be good or should I tell them to hold off and try and find some a bit fresher. How often do they bottle? Also is Father Nelson still around?
    Thanks

I'm guessing they're seeing those Dank bottles from February at a Total Wine. That place gives Dank a bad name by selling old bottles.

They should be able to get Dank at least from late April if not fresh May batches at Susan's in Santa Fe, Jubilation or Whole Foods in Albuquerque, or by going to the brewery. The brewery may still have some Father Nelson but it's pretty much gone at this point.

Dank is bottled about every two weeks I think. Maybe 3 weeks.

Thank you for the help. I told my sister to look harder and put the February Dank back (she got at Smiths in Albuquerque). Funny elevated was super fresh as well as the stout. Are there any other styles worth having her find for me. Also if you don't mind are there any other breweries in the region or solid distributions that she can grab for me. She lives in Farmington and will be dropping off next week.

I always recommend Marble to everyone. They brew a wider array of beers than La Cumbre and many are spectacular. I would suggest she try to get Marble's anniversary ale, White Out, as well as their Brett IPA, Cuvee Rouge, Imperial Stout, and the Imperial Red if it's still available. She should pick up a sixer of Santa Fe's IMperial Java Stout for you too. Cheap and tasty. Other not so hyped beers that are great: Santa Fe and Marble's Pilsners (both available in sixers), Marble's IPA, Oatmeal Stout and Red (available in sixers) and Duel Brewing's Goya (available in a 375mL bottle).

Guess fresh dank fell through. One place had Feb and one place had for 3/6. I would think this stuff would fly on the shelves. They were able to find some Marble oatmeal stout.

No she was in Albuquerque looking for it. Tried a few Smiths. She was only there for a quick appointment so she could not hit the brewery.

Too bad I missed this thread by a couple days. For others who may be checking things out and for future reference. The brewery is the absolute freshest place to get everything. I have seen a solid week to two week delay in the freshest danks arriving at all other places like TW and Smiths.. Whole Foods gets some danks too. Kelly Liquors also seems to sit on old to really old project danks.

It's also really all about timing. For example, I'll see 4/8 Project Dank at a variety of places, including Jubilation on or around May 1st, some 9 days after bottling of their April 22nd batch. Could be a delivery or order delay etc. So a 1 month "catchup" by these other stores is feasible.

Smith's just barely got La Cumbre products starting in early March. So they may just be sitting on stuff that has never sold. It happens a lot, namely Total Wine, Kelly Liquors and now Smith's.

One example from TW about timing. I was there around the 30th of April and saw nothing but 4/8 danks. I then showed up a couple days later around the 3rd of May, and those are gone, and in its place is 4/22 Danks. The 4/22s will probably sit until May 30th right in time for a May 12th batch of Danks to show up. Of all things non fresh about TW, La Cumbre products seem to be done right (i think since they self distribute, there is no leniency in what they can do.

I'm also chiming in a bit late, but I was just at the brewery this past Thursday and they still had some father nelson and the freshest project dank was from 4/22. I visited the total wine up north and they also had project dank from 4/22.

I couldn't agree with you more. I had a couple of there offerings when they used to distribute to Colorado and I don't remember being overly impressed, but after visiting the brewery this past week my opinion of Marble has definitely changed. The IPA, DIPA, and brett IPA were all great and I would go out on a limb and say that I prefer them to La Cumbre hands down. I had high hopes for elevated and while it was good, I liked Marble's better and at $6.99 a sixer its a great value that I would rather have over many of our IPA's.

@ONovoMexicano Just curious if you know any family friendly bars and grills that might have Dank on tap, and possibly the Hef for my wife. We will be in ABQ this weekend and While Im familiar with the places to get it in bottle, I would like to find it in a restaraunt or two. The only other place I know on draft are not too family friendly( IE the brewery itself, Billys long Bar, etc) Not looking for an applebees or anything just a spot to get some local food thats also family friendly.

Hmm. Tough question because I rarely drink Dank on draft anywhere. Let me think about it and do some research and I'll get back to you.

I will say that Nob Hill Bar and Grill has really stepped their game up both as far as beer and food and is pretty family-friendly. They are tapping Marble's Brett Stout (which is awesome) today and I imagine it'll still be on come Saturday. They'll most likely have Elevated and Slice of Hefen on as well.

I'll get back to you with other ideas.

Yeah, the more I think of it, I simply can't name a place that I KNOW will have Dank on tap.

But, I'd suggest if not Nob Hill Bar and Grill, try O'Niell's in Nob Hill as they have lots of draft options and also sell bottles for on-site consumption. The food is decent.

Places with good food and good beer that are family-oriented:

Farm and Table (limited beer menu, but likely Elevated and the food is awesome) --- Pricier

Artichoke Cafe (limited beer menu, good food)--- Moderate prices

Bistronomy B2B (good burgers, good beer selection but lately seem to be pushing their own house beers and not restocking local kegs)--- Cheap but also tight-spaced

A number of other restaurants I'd recommend don't really have great beer lineups. Your question made me realize, aside from Nob Hill Bar and Grill, there's really not a great place to EAT AND GET GOOD BEER. Damn.

I appreaciate all the pointers and add these places to my maps.

I often only travel there alone which allows me to get it at places I wouldnt bring my kids, like billy's long bar, where the women are half naked, and has a bonus, 3.75 dank pints on happy hour(including weekend)

    Thanks again, cheers!!

Billy's is a mess though, man. The gals never know one beer from another nor how to serve them. Frosted mugs of Dank might as well be Heineken.

LOL, That is true. I noticed the frosted mugs, so I let my IPA warm up a bit.... The service wasnt too bad but I always sat at the bar and pointed to what I wanted.

La cumbre is family friendly when they have a food truck. I took my son with me to the Father Nelson release, just gave him his tablet and a fellow BA's wife had some toys in her purse. Can't beat getting it from the source.

Any of you NM folks want to work a quick trade for Elevated. Project Dank and/or any other good hoppy beers out your way? Trying to get some beers together for my bday next weekend, so would like to ship early next week, so I have beers by the weekend.

BM me and I'll give you a list of stuff to choose from. Have some Bruery, JK, FW, Yellow Rose, etc.
