Yeah, #3 sounds pretty interesting. I'd be down for it.
1 & 2 are a little less appealing to me for some reason. Seems like it would be more worth the time to just do another AP recipe like in the past. But I'll be happy with what everyone agrees on.

What about a modified 3? Have an invitational homebrew comp, utilize any AP recipe ingredients. I'm pretty sure between the two ipa recipes I can put something tasty together.

Even though I can't contribute, #3 sounds the most interesting!

The palette of ingredients is rich for American styles and English styles, but with only the classic saison strain (and brett brux?) available, Belgian styles might be a little limited, and there are no great strains from the AP ingredient list for German styles.

I like the idea of #3. But I've greatly enjoyed the voting aspect of the Averagely Perfect projects and the forum of discussion it creates. So I'm afraid I'll feel averagely incomplete without the opportunity to click on a few voting buttons. If there's any way to engage the group by voting on elements of the competition, I think it would make it a little more fun.
