I couldn't find a thread on this.. What are some of the good new breweries in Denver? I know the new breweries thread has a nice list but does anyone have any opinions on people doing good or unique things?
Station 26 is killing it, especially their hoppy stuff. They are by far the best new brewery of the past year for me.
Except for Great Divide. Station 26, TRVE sours, River North & Jagged Mountain (barrel-aged beers), and while Copper Kettle isn't exactly new, their "new" barrel-aged series bottles are all really good.
Yeah, Scorn is great. Headed over to Lowdown today and enjoyed the Selfish. Pretty much a session IPA, very light body. Made with Citra and Amarillo. Their regular IPA was decent. Gonna have to fill up some growlers there soon, as it's a 5 block walk for me.
I visited Comrade on Sat. Good selection of beers. The Koffee Stout was my favorite, but even the ones that weren't my usual style were still pretty good. Nice size space and well-laid out. I'll definitely check them out again.
Glad to see Great Divide get a mention. I think because they're so big...sometimes they still get "lost" amongst all of the upstarts. As far as old school hoppy beers go I still think Titan and Herc are among the best in the nation. Of the newer spots I think the standouts are Comrade, Station 26, and TRVE. Lots of places have 1-2 good beers, but I like most (if not all) of the beers at those places. Caution is another really good one, but IMO their east location has fallen off once they opened the western branch. For barrel-aged beers nobody can top the Bull & Bush, although they don't always have a BA beer available.
