A bunch of douche bros trying to trade for the best of the best is getting really annoying.

I have a few contacts up there and are being fairly reasonable with the backyard. Cocunut is not as easy bc many only got 1 bottle m

Given that I'm in the Twin Cities (release is next week) while the bottles have already hit stores at home in Madison, I've about given up on buying bottles of either Proprietors or Backyard, unless I win a lottery (not very likely this far into the day). Even if I were to try to call in favors, my friends just are having a lot of trouble getting extra bottles. Still, I'm fairly sure these bottles will pop up at future tastings or in future trades at some point so no point in stressing too much about it.

I can tell you're not familiar with the arbitrary hardship tax, because if you were, you'd know that that their demands are completely warranted.

Maybe their distributor is holding back and will do a second wave that should give traders some leverage to trade more reasonably. Wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

Prop should not be super hard once all the dust settles. in terms of bottle count, Prop is about 1/2 what Cherry Rye was. Still far from Double Barrel Damon of KBBS territory. Backyard is about the same as Cherry Rye, figure will be similarly hard to trade for as Cherry Rye was last year (but now should be easier to trade for than Cherry Rye)

I just posted 2x Cherry Rye for 1x Prop and 1x Backyard which I think is very fair for both sides, and it looks like it's done.

I always find myself coincidentally scheduling a business trip to NY after a GI or Founders release because it's the best market around to find these bad boys on the shelf.

IL sucks just like Cali for most releases.

i know a TON of local BAs who sent out all kinds of Beatification and FFAC for limited releases or sometimes even shelf beers. I know i sent severel bottles out to folks who have never tried it. i think the bay area BAs are, for the most part, a good crowd.

as for So Cal, well i cant comment on those releases

Bay Area BAers are nothing like Oregon, Midwest, and Florida, with obvious exceptions.

my local Illinoisans have come through for me and not trade ****** me for the 22 oz bombers of these beers....guess it helps to make trade partners regular and make sure you hook them up. I know I will be rewarding my TPs for the hunt yesterday.

The Backyard Rye was alll over Orlando. Most stores the get deliveries from Wayne Densche actually had sales people deliver the cases after the reg delivery. I scored 4 bottles at 2 diff stores. (love having a wife Mule).
There is ALOT of all the variants (except proprietors). Had both BCBS and The Barleywine on tap at WOB. The Barleywine was fucking amazing.

Only will Proprietors maintain decent trade value. Right now it's absurd and will eventually cool down. The real question people giving up crazy good stuff that is small batch/limited should ask themselves is "how much better are the variants than standard BCS?". And the answer to that question is not much better and in some cases not as good. As I suspect the situation is with Backyard Rye. I'm not a fan of tartness or over fruitiness in my stouts. Classic Bourbon County Stout is world class and if you can get that you aren't missing out on much with the variants.

Eh the question isn't really ever about "how much better are they". It's much more about rarity, trying something limited, different, etc

Landed a Proprietors, 2 coffee, and one BW for a Black Tuesday and a Beauregarde. It's nice to see not everyone is holding these things hostage.

Some guy on Reddit traded a Proprietors for 2 Coffee and 2 Barleywine yesterday. Another one right now is ISO 4 coffee and 2 Regular.
