Well really you paid for those "discounts" as part of your ~$300 membership fee, but I digress. After you add in $2-3 per bottle to ship from CA to Idaho I'm sure that you're sitting at $18-$19 per bottle which is almost exactly the same price that you can get Cantillion and 3F's regular offerings for in 750ml format. Would you rather drink Oude Tart with Cherries or Cantillon Kriek?

You're just not doing it right. BCBS benefits from a bit of time, as it allows the heat to fall off a bit and the flavor integration improves. I personally don't prefer BCBS too fresh because the heat is distracting from the other flavors in the beer, once the heat falls off a few years in you're left with chocolate walnut fudge, thick creamy mouthfeel, and slight bourbon sweetness. I've found that 2-3 years of age is generally the sweet spot. Just look at how great Bramble is drinking now vs. two years ago.

It bothers me that time and time again people refer to both MBC and eBay as "free" market, when it's abundantly clear there significant information asymmetry between the buyers and sellers of aftermarket beer. Every $200 bottle of Rare proves this point almost daily. The value MBC does offer is an arbitrage type of idiot check against the trading market. If you're looking at a deal where you can sell your side of a trade on MBC for more than the purchase price of the desired beer on MBC then the trade is a bad trade and shouldn't happen.

in the past week I have recreated bcbvs using a different method. I soaked 3 bourbon madagascar vanilla beans in about a half cup of bourbon for about 3-4 weeks and just took a normal spoonful and put it in the glass that housed the bcbs. Wait about 5-10 minutes, give the glass a while and you are well on your way. Super damn vanilla-y, like unreal. It is a bit hotter than reg bcbvs and seems to have a little more carbonation (i did this with a 2013 bottle) than vanilla has had to me in the past (ive had it 8 or 9 times now), but id do this every single day of the week instead of trading for bcbvs.

anyways, I had my Prop last night and was pretty disappointed. just overly sweet and cloying for me + so oily (I've had plenty of BCBS, BCBCS, BCBS Cherry Rye). me and my buddy left 2 ounces in the bottle. it was the least favorite of the variants I've had.

sweet? cloying? that to me is weird. people say it lacks coconut... but if you honestly open it up directly next to a bcbs and tell me there is hardly any coconut flavor in there then i think people are insane. i do think it is a top tier bcbs varient, but then again, i think that about all of them (especially especially cherry rye). anyhow, the community could argue this for the next 19 months hahaha, cheers my man!

It is funny how varied palates can be. For my tastes, having had Vanilla, Bramble, Cherry Rye, and Coffee, Cherry Rye was my least favorite. I'm looking forward to cracking my Backyard Rye to see how it slots in there. I should mention that the Bramble had about 1.5 years on it though.

It was not shipped anywhere outside of IL. If it's on a shelf somewhere outside, the store owner purchased it himself and placed it on their shelf.

Id say BT demand is still higher than DL, after all, BT is aged in bourbon barrels

In what universe is bcbs more complex than BT? And if we're talking complexity, price and availability, I can crap on GI too because Parabola is far more complex than both, cheaper and way more available.

In a world where people have different tastes than you...BT is a diabetic sugary mess, not sure what complexities you are talking about. And here in Chicago BCBS is much more available than the "far more complex" Parabola. Its also a lot cheaper per oz than the FW beers.

Cheaper and way more available? Point me to the 4-packs of parabola in 48 states for $20. I must be missing them somehow..

Actually, Parabola is more expensive per ounce and way harder to get than BCBS (for most). I was able to get one bottle of Parabola this year. I could have bought 10 cases of BCBS if I'd wanted to. As for complexity, to each their own, but I prefer BCBS hands down.

It appears that you have never purchased BCBS. I can buy a 4 pack of BCBS for $19.99. that's $0.42 per oz. Whenever I could find a bomber of Parabola, it cost me $14.99. That's $0.68 per oz. I enjoy Parabola a lot, but it is not the bargain that BCBS is.

Parabola growlers are where it's at. I was getting 32oz fills cheaper than the price of a bottle
