for putting their DIPA (Larry) in their variety pack. Not a lot of breweries do that and just give you their regular IPA.
I'm actually pretty happy with their regular IPA also. It's no super-hop-bomb, but it's tasty and easy to drink. I usually keep some around as my daily-drinker beer.
Yes a pleasant surprise! And am i the only one who finds Green Monstah to be a real sleeper of a beer?
Yes a friend gave me all 3 from a mix 12 he had. IPA is solid session, not over hopped, tasty and drinkable. Green Monstah is a great beer especially when fresh, underrated for sure. Then Larry can hold its own vs other top IPAs. It was very cool having all 3 so fresh. Wonder if they drop the light IPA in there after some time. Overall Wachusett is a sleeper brewery. Black Shack Porter is very good and I have hear Country Ale could be one of there top beers, never had it Has anyone tried the Belgian strawberry?
this. 4~ years ago, 6pk of a beer like larry for $10 would have been "wow it's hoppy!" but in 2013, 6pk of a beer like larry for $10 is "holy shit, this is one of the best beer deals i've seen not put out by sierra nevada!*" * or jack's abby, but i'm trying to come from a longer term historical perspective here...
It was 16+ bucks and I got it on sale for less than 14 bucks. It has Larry, Monsta, IPA, and Pale Ale. So its pretty much 3 IPA's which is great if you love them but I'd prefer a little more variety like maybe their Porter or Brown Ale in there. On the other hand it is a relief they dont stick their flagship (Blueberry) in there like a lot of breweries do. I didnt even see Larry sold in 6 packs all I saw was it in the variety pack and bombers of it for like 7 bucks.
IMO, the light IPA is the hoppiest beer they make. The others just seem to have a dull, muddled hop character and are balanced to the malt side - decently drinkable, but doesn't satisfy my hop needs. And I think Country Ale is the best overall beer they make.
