If you use chew tobacco, refrain from doing so during a tasting. But If you must, be sure you properly label which container is for spit, and which is for beer.
I've heard this from a couple sources...

Anyone else notice that Pilsner glasses have much better head retention than pint glass/nonics/mugs? I've started drinking IPAs and APAs out of my Pilsner glass, because I was disturbed by the beers' heads falling off so fast.

I used to do that, but water only is pretty gross if you think about it, especially when guests are using them.

adding to the point about getting your whole nose in the glass, also keep your mouth open and breathe in through your mouth as well when sniffing a beer. It makes the aroma much bigger and easier to pick apart.

Always keep a sword or chainsaw nearby if a bottle opener isn't handy.

foil could maybe only help since it will trap pockets of air which will help insulate, but the foil itself is one of the worst materials to use. Metal is an excellent conductor of electricity and heat, and will only aid in transferring heat to or from your precious brew (this is one thing that gets to me about those commercials for whatever BMC company that advertises those aluminum bottles as colder. The only way they are colder is that they cool down quicker. But conversely, they heat up quicker than glass bottles. So once you take a bottle out of the fridge, after X minutes the beer in the aluminum bottle will always be warmer than the beer in the glass bottle. Also, because it is metal, it will take heat from your hand much quicker than a glass bottle will. So a 36 degree beer in a metal bottle will FEEL colder to your hand than a 35 degree beer in a glass bottle. But I guess they are catering to their target audience, most people. And for the record, I'm down with the built in shotgun holes, haven't tried it yet though, now I gotta pick up a single from Total tomorrow. Anyway... ) . A paper bag would work much better than aluminum foil. Or use several paper bags. You would be surprised how long a few bags can keep something cool, especially with good insulating pockets of air in there. But then you gotta think about the environment, so I guess just save the bags and reuse them or something. Hiccup

In the same vein, make sure you know which bottle someone poured the bong water into. Ask my how I know this...

I looked it up and got "corialiis." Perhaps an alternate spelling? Or maybe my computer was confused by the coriolis effect? (BTW, I'm getting the red line on both spellings.)

I am guessing you are joking, but I am sure there are plenty of people with this piss poor frame of mind.

Still one of my favorites is Moon Man from NG and I could drive up and grab some off any WI shelf right now

Those cheap imported lagers you ignore/laugh at are usually better than US craft lagers - buy them in sealed cases and 12 packs within 6 months of bottling date for best experience.

The rarez/one off's you spend a lot of money and time acquiring aren't any more well made than the beer available right now on the store shelf. And the real beauty of that is you can drink them whenever you feel the desire without having to hoard them in your basement or trade your first born.

Bold flavor does not necessarily equate to good beer. And the corollary to that ---> balance and drinkability is also an important craft beer concept, not just for macro lager maker's marketing purposes.
