Oh my god. Any place with an entire charcuterie menu is a definite must for us. Definitely hitting that up.

And yeah I was thinking about Point Tavern based on yelp and pictures.

Final question - where's a good place to watch football tomorrow? I watch to catch the Bears/Packers game which id imagine isn't top priority around here at 1pm tomorrow so it would have to be a full on sports bar I guess.

    Again, many thanks.

You won't be disappointed by New Rivers charcuterie (all of their food is excellent). There's 400 "Irish" bars in Providence, some of which are likely to have NFL Sunday ticket and will be broadcasting the Bears/Packers game. Check Murphy's (in the same building as Local 121, but on the other side, facing the parallel street).

Also, just a short walk from the Point Tavern is The Hot Club. This isn't a beer bar by any means, but it's on the water and since it's going to be warm today, you'd be able to sit out on the docks and over look the scenery.

Glad you liked Local 121! I'm actually the Sous Chef there and I make all of the Charcuterie in house. Sorry we have such a shitty beer selection though...

Rogue Island might be playing football tomorrow and they have a bunch of local taps for cheap.

Yes! I could eat that lardo and pâté for a meal.

Wish I would have known you were coming in, I would have come out and introduced myself! Glad you liked everything. Next time you're in town, I'll have something new for you.

Local 121 is a great spot man, you guys do good work in that kitchen. My wife and I used to go a lot when you first opened up but then kind of got away from it (got away from going out altogether when our son was born). Your bar is a great place to hang to do some day drinking on cold days. I think your beer selection is solid (I can't get down with Trinity's stuff though, but I know there's a connection between you guys and Trinity - Josh Miller no? He owns both spots, correct?). In any event, I think you guys are a nice spot for people to check out. Keep up the good work!

At Rogue Island now. This place rules for sure.

HOWEVER. Why does anything open before 5pm?

I'm actually impressed with this article. I expected an itinerary of cliched rubbish, but this does pretty well (I'd cut out that trip to the Red Fez though, beer selection is poor and there's much better food available. Swapping it out with a trip to Louis Fuller's would be my suggestion). Nice to see them throw in the Old Canteen, great spot. Get the fried smelts. One of my favorite dishes of all time.

Been a few years since I've been to Red Fez, but I thought the place was awesome. Think there was an ownership change since then. But the chorizo burger was one of the best I've ever had.

One other suggestion: Bring the wife to Duck & Bunny for brunch or a late night cupcake. I've yet to meet a woman that doesn't enjoy the snuggery!

One newer spot I would add to ANYONE's list is The Shanty in Warwick, on Route 1 just north of Chelo's Waterfront (the old Ward's Public House). Went last night and had a salmon patty on focaccia with shredded apples and yuzu aioli, which was amazing. We started with a hummus and tortilla chip appetizer, loved the thick consistency.

They are farm to table with a limited but fantastic menu. I read the chef worked at the famous French Laundry.

Shanty's tap list numbered around 12-15. A few locals prominently included. I had a Dogfish Sixty-one and a Limbo.

Was definitely shocked over the transformation from an "Irish" pub to this eatery. Highly recommend...

Thanks a bunch. I try to keep innovating the charcuterie menu as much as possible since I took over. Yea Josh is the owner of both places and Hot Club as well. Come by again, I'm sure a lot has changed since the last time you where there!

I make a lot of homemade charcuterie myself (I've done salami, coppa, bresaola, lox and most recently duck prosciutto). Anytime you're trying something new, let me know, I'd love to hear about it!

Yesterday after Rogue Island, we drove over to Federal Hill and pounded copious amounts of raw seafood at the Providence Oyster Bar for their happy hour. After about $100 lunch, we went back to the hotel for a quick nap and walked down by the river. Got a quick drink at some swanky joint then caught the Riverfire. Super beautiful. Very cool vibe. Loved it.

Then for dinner we walked over to Nicks on Broadway and had a truly great meal. A work friend know the chef/owner there so we got some especially stellar service. Champagne, cocktails, bourbon, too much food (and charcuterie) to mention. Good thing we didn't drive...

Today was more relaxed. Went to the walk this morning. Very beautiful park that Roger Williams. Then we got some Korean food at a place by our hotel. Grabbed a beer at Harry's Burgers. Then just drove around til time to go to the airport.

Truly loved your city. Can't wait to come back. Hopefully sooner than later. Thank you so much for the suggestions. But man...these accents are really weird to me.

Oh yes, the accents. They can be painful. I've trained mine out of me. I see videos of myself when I was like 12 and it's brutal, ha ha. It occasionally slips out though, ie "I gotta take out the gahbige (garbage)."

Glad you had a great time. I've lived in RI my whole life and have always loved Providence. I don't know what it is about the city, but it speaks to me.

Just out of curiosity, what did you drink at Harry's? They never have a draft menu on their website (which is whack), but I know they have cask, so I am always popping in to see what's available.
