BA's going to Providence in 2 weeks.. Best beer shop info needed... Looking for the obvious: captains daughter and SOS... Appreciate the help... Cheers... Ps if anyone needs NJ beers for trade let me know
SoS is CT and VT only. Capt Daughter is a little harder to get in the Provi area. You have to get closer to Westerly RI. As for beer stores Nikki's Liquors is my bottle shop of choice. Always a solid selection, nice staff, and they actual have a vintage room. I got a 2008 Bigfoot out of there a couple months ago. They alwasy have something unique in there
High Spirits and Nikki's are all you need. SoS is relatively easy to trade for with people right across the border in CT as well. For captain's daughter, I honestly haven't found a 4-pack on a shelf in forever, but as @MVP09 said, you can likely get it closer to the brewery. They usually have it on tap for growlers as well.
Since Westerly is closer to CT. I feel CT sees more Capt Daughter than most of RI. Also it's rarely in MA anymore.
If you are looking for Captain's Daughter, the store closest to Providence where it seems to stay on shelves the longest is probably I.M. Gan Discount Liquors on Warwick Ave, Warwick. Around 10-15 minutes from downtown.
I struck out looking for CD when i was in Providence recently checking the stores mentioned above but you gotta get lucky. You may actually have more luck closer to home though as it is now distributed in NY (in case you did not know). http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/captains-daughter-in-ny.318541/ And as others have mentioned you'll have to find SOS in CT, so you are more likely to have success on your way there. http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ct-lookout-thread.278317/page-15#post-4126815
Underrated beer store in Providence: Reyes Liquors on Westminster. Not your typical posh bottle shop, but last time I went, I scooped Captain's Daughter, two bottles of Cuvee d'Industrial, and some Wootstout
I ran into a 6 pack of Pour Judgment at Nikki's a couple weeks ago. Very good beer as well. If you see it grab some. Also Flying Jenny when fresh is excellent for an Extra Pale. Also still waiting for Great Ketch cans?
Also not mentioned is Bottles on the East Side. Usually about 5-10% pricier than others in the area, but stopped there today and they had 2014 BC barleywine on the shelf. Still two 4-packs left if anyone in the area wants some!
High spirits is by far the best. I second Reyes as being a great store, super nice kid that owns it too. Some others in the area would be B&C Liquors, Madeira, eno
