Heading to Providence for the first time in like 10 years to a concert tomorrow night. Not looking to just drink crap at the venue. Anywhere folks could suggest with decent craft beer on draft I might be able to visit before or after Lupo's?

    Thanks for the help

Julian's in Providence or Doherty's in Pawtucket... depends if you want walking distance

While Julian's probably has the best selection, it's not the best place to drink as there's only like 6 bar seats. For something that hasn't been mentioned, The Avery is right around the corner. Only has 8 taps but they are usually solid. Rouge Island is pretty good for local stuff and the food is pretty decent too. For a town with such good food, we're really lacking a great beer bar. RIP Track 84.

    Rogue Island
    Coal Fire Pizza
    The Eddy
    G Pub

Those might be your best bars that are within walking distance of lupos.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm sure I'll check out one of those for sure.

    Cheers

Agree with the suggestions above. Julian's is the best option overall, as of today they (shh) had bottles of Cantillon Classic and CSG, for the "cool" prices of $45 and $55, respectively, hence still being available.

Also, I live downtown. Depending on timing and what I'm up to I'm always happy to pop bottles. Not quite walking distance to Lupo's though, especially not after a bottle share

Along these lines, I will be in providence tomorrow afternoon for work....Is getting any NEBCO specifically ghandi bot or stout trooper, or even sip of sunshine a realistic thing? if not any good bottle shops around downtown would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not gonna happen. Nikkis is the best bottle shop in the area. Actually they had NEBCO wet willy in the vintage room last time I was there. It is from when nebco wasnt good and actually distributed... But still.

The vintage room ranges from garbage to baller depending on the day. The prices and choices are very good nonetheless

I would disagree with the "garbage" characterization. The worst I've ever seen, they still had vintage pannepot, aventinus, etc. I think it's a crazy cool concept and even the standard stuff is worth a look if you haven't got a cellar of your own going.

Ive been in with nothing interesting to buy for the (albeit reasonable) price. Ive been in with 4 things on the shelf. Its not good 100% of the time. Ive bought both the beers you mentioned. Its hit or miss. I bought a 2007 lou pepe and have gone in when the grey sail 6 pack sale looked better. Its garbage sometimes.

Great concept that just cant be maintained at a super high level all the time. Not an insult.

I do agree that it may not be a super high level, but I'm just trying to say that a store making an effort to put out any vintage beer at all is inherently not "garbage."

Stopped by Nikkis today. Good selection, was going to mix a 6 of locals and then saw they had Sunday morning stout 4 packs up front. Was happy to grab that. Next time Ill have to try some local brews. but will definitely be back.

If the concert is at Dunks Center Julian's or Harry's on the Hill.
