(Disclaimer: PETA, dont read this, and EVERYONE, please don't try this)
In a graduate neuroanatomy course, I learned if you were to remove a cats head and put it on a treadmill, it would walk due to reflexes.. for a short time anyway.

EDIT: I'm 23 too. good to see the young guns on BA. Thought I may have been the only one

I learned that due to erosion Niagara Falls is 7 miles downstream from where it originally was thousands of years ago.

Also love what I'm seeing so far! Gonna be tough to choose just 5!

I had heard a story about a "beer flood" in London in the 1800's on some tv show. Upon Googling it, here is the story the I learned a little more about: PS, some people will do anything for some beer as the conclusion proves.

"At a London brewery in 1814, a vat containing more than 100,000 gallons of ale exploded, sending the beer rushing down the street through poor residential areas. It destroyed two houses and one pub, killing nine people in the process. However, one of those people only had himself to blame. When the beer settled into the gutters, people, enticed by free booze (even if it did have bits of road in it), rushed to the streets to drink it. A gentleman indulged a little too much and died from alcohol poisoning the next day."

I just recently joined a site called "BeerAdvocate". Did you know there is a whole world of people like me that love beer and connect with each other by posting on forums dedicated to beer? They trade beer back and forth and try to help other people obtain their wanted beers because liquor distribution laws suck and they can't get it where they are? Get this... some people even "give" away beer to other people out of the goodness of their heart by doing "LIFs" and lottery'ing (sp?) beer. I know it sounds crazy but google it. It really exists and it is far cooler than I ever expected. Beer people are awesome!

I learned that up until the American Revolution, British and American accents were quite similar--in the sense that common Brits spoke much more like Americans. It was following the war that the accent we associate with modern English accents (which was common within the English upper class prior to the American Revolution) made it's way into the dialect of the common Brit. Always figured we were the ones who diverted from the original, not the other way around.

I've learned that sharing good beer with good friends is far more rewarding than hoarding it.

I couldn't agree more. Honestly IMO sharing ANY beer with good friends is better than hoarding rare beer

I learned that if you drink too much one night while hanging out with your cousin who you've had a weird insestrous crush on you're entire life, the next family get together can be pretty awkward. (from a friend, of course)

I learned the hard way that if you leave a bottle of Ann to close to King Henry she'll lose her cap and your cellar will be a bloody mess.

    Thanks for LIF!
