So let me start by saying PseudoSue is one of my all time favorite beers. I was very excited to hear that my Iowa trade-buddy got word that his local was getting 4 packs of the 12 ouncers. So we set up a trade, and two days later I have 8 PseudoSue bottles at my doorstep. The bottles have 5/29/15 printed on them. I put one in the freezer, wait about 30-45 minutes, and crack her open. I was a bit thrown off by the smell, it was very unfamiliar and to be honest, unpleasant. The taste is way off, doesn't taste a thing like PS out of a fresh bomber, and it has some taste in there I can pinpoint, but its really just not good.

I make this post to ask, has anyone had the same experience with the 12 ounce bottles? Is this a bad batch, or is this an unfortunate case of "Got too hot during shipping?" Either way I still love Pseudo, and there's a great chance this is a one off bad bottle, and I really hope all 8 bottles aren't this off.

TG is being contract brewed to an extent in Florida I believe. Could be why.

It was off. If I were you if pay attention to the iowa distro news thread in the Midwest forum. When it gets released there will be plenty of reviews of the batch on that thread.

I also heard Sue was being mass produced in Florida and shipped back to Iowa, can't be a good thing for anyone other than the top brass at TG. Lawson's has their popular Sip of Sunshine brewed at Two Roads brewery in CT,and the quality of that has fallen off since they introduced the cans in December 2014.

Damn, that makes me sad. Also, outstanding avatar, probably my favorite show ever, I think I could legitimately quote every episode season 1-7, haven't really seen 8 or 9 yet to be fair

Pseudo's been dropping off -- or at the very least hit and miss -- for a while now, though it sounds from the IA folks like it really took a nose dive when the head brewer left. Don't hold your breath, at least for the time being, Mr. Webster.

Full disclosure: I never thought Pseudo was all that great anyway, so take my cynicism with a grain of salt, I suppose:wink:

I've heard a lot about sue being off now but I will say some Hoppy pale's and ipa's need a few weeks in the bottle to get to where it should be. Noticed it with chillwave this year.

Fair enough, but I literally would put the last Pseudo (bomber) in my top 10 beers

As did I, and I've never had it before so I'll have nothing to compare it to.

I'm aware Sip was always brewed at Two Roads, even the first bombers. It used to be cloudy and more dank when the first cans were introduced 12/12/14 and Sip is now pretty much clear as a bell.
