So I was on a kick to find some Pliny today...and while I did find my Pliny (damn 1 bottle limit at two places), I was shocked to find a bottle of PseudoSue! It was the last thing I expected. I didn't ask questions, I just bought it. Has anybody heard of distro in LA, let alone CA?

Yeah, it happens. I know it popped up at one shop in the last few months. How much was it, out of curiosity?

The real question is how much was the bottle?

I'm ashamed to say...grabbed it without asking. Let's just say more than $15, less than $20.

That makes it the most expensive pale ale I've ever seen (granted it was being sold in the black market)

Lol, yeah. Parabola pricing . So there is absolutely no chance that there's distro in CA right? I'm shocked only cause I wouldn't have expected this from the shop.

It's absolutely positively 100% not distro'd in CA, or even west of Minnesota (I could be off a state or two, but that's close enough). And I think for MN, they actually just recently moved into a small part of that market.

Wow, crazy. I'm gonna see what the fuss is about, and see if the price is justified. It's like I'm buying it at face value and then shipping it to myself...either way I'll keep my mouth shut.

Lol, I think it would actually be ATF though. Oh wait, there's a knock at my door. Dang.

The real question actually is - how old is the bottle?

I'm also very surprised that someone who has the knowledge of PS and the curiosity to spend over $15 for one, wouldn't know enough about TG to know it isn't distroed anywhere NEAR California

Anyway, 64vdub - I hope it's tasty. This should help you in the future: http://seekabrew.com/distro/index.html?b=Toppling Goliath

FBI was for your "other" hobby...

    Kinda this^^

I used to frequent a few local good spots that got great beer. Once I heard of them either price gouging, or selling trade-bottles, I stopped taking my business there. Mind you I would frequently purchase a few hundred $ of beer from them a month. Now that money goes elsewhere.

    Fishing??

I looked on the bottle and it appears it's not dated.

I'm fairly new to the craft brew scene...In my short time I have had the luxury of trading for some of the best by using what Cali has to offer. Also, locally I figured out that you have to "ask" for the best that California has to offer; it's not on the shelves. Pliny, Kern River, Alpine, etc are rarely on the shelves, you have to ask for it.

SO, with this said, I had seen Toppling Goliath, specifically PseudoSue, talked about a lot. I have just never gotten around to figuring out how to get it until recently. I posted my first FT post to try to get some last week when my interest was sparked after looking over the top 250, and reading reviews about TG in general. Yesterday, there it was, didn't even ask for it! I paid dearly for it not knowing any better with impulse. I just figured that maybe distro started and I got lucky, just like I do with the other good stuff sometimes. I am looking forward to trying it out to say the least.

Probably be best if I didn't mention. I'm in the L.A. area, so that kinda narrows it down.

Vendome Pas? They have offered up Pseudosue 3 times and each time the price was higher.

That would be 2 stores then if yours is true. Hmmm, what's happening here.
