I'm going to be going to Philly this summer with my family and I was wondering if there is any hope of getting Pliny the Elder there as it shows on rr's website that it's part of the distro. If this is even a remote possibility is there any advice someone could lend as to the best place, day, time to aquire it? Thanks for any help you can give!

Keep an eye on this. Draft only in Philadelphia by the way.

    Yup, pretty much this.

It's hit or miss really. There are weeks that 3-4 places have it on draft, this week, none. Monk's Cafe gets it most frequently. A couple places not on PTF that I know had it in the past:
    http://www.strangelovesbeerbar.com/beer.html (a few times)
    http://kingsoaklane.com/site/ (once)

Call ahead always if your purpose for going to a place is explicitly PtE. Good luck!

So are bottles not available typically just on draft? Thanks btw!

It's strictly draft only. Follow what mythaeus said above. Monk's is probably the most likely, it goes on there with some regularity.

I would also add that Teresa's Next Door seems to have it on tap fairly often as well. It's in the burbs, but is easy to get to from Philly (depending where you're staying). Monk's is the better option if you're staying downtown, but in the event they're out, it might be worth checking with TND.

    Good luck!

Russian River sends bottles of the "-tions" to Philadelphia but not the IPAs. If you want to try PtE or Blind Pig, it would have to be on draft at a place like Monk's or TND as stated by others.

Hoping someone has it throughout my stay bringing my little girl to sesame st place so gotta do something for dad haha. Thanks again!

If you're visiting Sesame Place, be sure to check out Trenton Road Take Out less than 10 minutes away.

You might get lucky and find some RR bottles of their sours or Damnation, but not PtE bottles here.....sadly enough.

Just because it's not on Tap Finder doesn't mean it's not in the city. Teresas had it this week.

OK, I really feel as if I need throw in a comment here.

I hear this lament all the time; if only bottles of PtE were distributed in SEPA/Philly, we all could go and get PtE whenever we want, and pilgrims coming from out of town would never have to worry about the vagrancies of the Origlio keg distribution system in order to find PtE at a local watering hole.

I happen to currently live in a town where PtE is distributed, including bottles. Want to take a guess how many times I've seen bottles available for sale here? Exactly twice, and that's after living here for a year. On both occasions the store blew through their allotment the same day it arrived, and that's with a one bottle per customer puchase restriction. And oh by the way, this is in a town that is not nearly as beer savvy or thirsty for good craft beer as Philly.

My point being that distribution of PtE bottles in Philly would not greatly increase the chances of anyone coming in from out of town finding bottles of PtE in Philly. If someone here in Eugene has virtually no chance of walking into a store and finding bottles of PtE just sitting on the shelf, how much less would the chances be of anyone walking into a bottle shop in Philly finding any?

In other words, as far as folks coming in from out of town are concerned, it doesn't matter one way or the other whether bottles of PtE are available in Philly, as there is no way they would find any, anyway or anyhow. Cheers!

John, easy solution. Get RR to bottle more PtE and ship more everywhere. Problem solved.

Ok seriously, you are spot on right.

:-) I believe that solution has been suggested to them Keith. However, Vinny's solution was to cut back bottle sales to 6 bottles per customer at the brewpub.

    Hasn't helped!

I sometimes think that Philly being RR's sole east coast outlet leads to people overlooking all the good beer actually from the Philly area. Check out Tired Hands, Earth, Forest & Main, Nodding Head, and/or Victory, for starters, while you're in the area.

anyone know the reason why RR chose philly as the sole east coast city to distribute to? genuinely curious idc one way or the other but it seems like ny, boston, dc, etc would have been the more obvious choices if they were going for marketing, so there must be more to it... are they from philly or something?
